FFT: The Lion War and Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness are both good choices but if you are new to the SRPG genre, Jeanne D'Arc might be more patient with you.

For the PSP, Breath of Fire III is really good (tho the loading times just before and after battlescenes are frustratingly slow). Still, you can pick it up for cheap, it's just a port anyway I think.

Uh, SRPG means Strategy Role Playing Game while MMORPG means Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. I think TRPG is similar to SRPG, as I haven't seen that term used much. Anyways, PSP owns in the SRPG department right now, so pick up any of those games. Also, try out Tales of Eternia, which is a pretty fun Action RPG.

Is that to say Jeanne D'arc is a "beginner's" SRPG? I've been debating between these three as well but I've only breiefly played SRPG's before so I'm not sure which one is for me.

for a strategic RPG try Final Fantasy Tactics, Jeanne Darc, or Disagea

for a turn based RPG try Final Fantasy 1 or 2 or Brave Story New Traveler

for action RPG try Kingdom of Paradise

if you are looking for one that will play similar to Crisis Core then youll want an action RPG.

Kingdom Of Paradise is great regardless. So is everything everyone has already mentioned, FFT etc. Another great rpg thats flown under the radar is Aedis Eclipse: Generation Of Chaos. Its extremely deep with a mix of srpg planning and real time battles. Its also actually 3 games in one. So the game time is enormous. Longest rpg I think Ive ever played actually.. Dont let the Gamespot review fool ya..

Why anyone metions Valkyrie Profile Lenneth?

serious, I hate RPG like FF, but Valkyrie Profile is way different IMO, it´s like Megaman combined with Orge Battle. And what kind of RPG is Vakyrie Profile? I want a similiar game.

If you like action RPG, definitely Tales of Eternia.
I thought the Tales of... series was rubbish thanks to Abyss (PS2) but Eternia made me change my opinion.

hmmm other action rpgs...Warriors of the Lost Empire is comming out this week. I havent heard much at all about it so not sure if it will be good or not. Monster Hunter Freedom 2 is marked as a action RPG, but some people dont think it is. The game is also one of those "you either hate it or you love it" game. Might want to do some research on it to see if you will like it before buying.

MMORPG-These are played online and basically play on huge servers with insane amounts of people and are usually very open-ended. You can go on quests and trade with other real people as well as NPC's. World of Warcraft is an example of an MMORPG. It seems like it would be somewhat impractical for this to be on a PSP due to the enourmous scope of them, but if somebody could get WoW on a PSP that would be amazing.

SRPG/TRPG-These endow a tacitical or strategic aspect to combat. Usually this comes in the form of the battlefied being laid out in a grid, and each character gets a certain number of moves each round to position them accordingly and such. One might have to get a character adjacent to what they want to attack to attack them, and ranged weapons like bows usually have a certain distance (# of blocks away) that they can shoot.
