Most people will tell you to buy R6V and rent The darkness.

i recommend you buy R6V first and buy The darkness when you get more money :) hopefully before another game release.

I tried both and I personally like R6V more because it is a tactical shooter but darkness was pretty kickass violent too. Both are very good and worth the buy. Buy R6V if you really like tactical shooter but if you didn't really care about them, then darkness is the best bet.

I got R6:V because I knew that it had a solid single player game AND a good multiplayer. The Darkness just has a pretty good single player and not much more. R6:V is more immersive.

I have both and while they are both fun games, The Darkness bleeds out sooner, has less of a replay value (to me) and the multiplayer is almost unplayable. The more lasting game is R6 due to the different game modes, vast co-op and vs multiplayer but The Darkness did have a lot of those "Holy **it did you see that!?" moments.

So I played a Tom Clancy Gam on my PC years ago, and it was UBER slow/complicated. You had to set check points, dictate who to go where when, then run through your plan. And if you screwed up, bam, back to the beginning of you plan again.

Is R6 anything like that? (hope that wasn't too confusing!)

I've only played about 4 or 5 hours of the darkness and beat the demo of Rainbow 6 so take my opinion as you may. Playing RSV, I felt like I have done this before numerous times and while it is a solid game, it just feels like another tactical shooter. When I first played The Darkness I was blown away by how highly detaild everything was. I haven't beaten the game but I hear its short while leavingyou with an impact.Picking just one, I'd have to say the Darkness, because it is something different.......Take my opinion as you may because I have not played deep into neither of these games but thelittleI have, the Darkness left me wanting more.......personally though......I'm getting Ninja Gaiden!!

I remember those and I thought they were great, but no R6 Vegas isn't like that. It has on the fly waypoints by pressing X and your team goes to that point, the team selects it's own gear and ROE is the select button. It's more of a straight forward shooter now but it's just as tactical as it ever was. I think they got it down with the L1 button for the active cover system.

RV6 is excellant not one complaint ,some of the best multiplayer ever ,the darkness is ok but, graphics are iffy on HD, and the controls absolutely stink.
