Reddit thread of people having trouble finding the game:

https://www.reddit.com/r/PS4/comments/4ehkob/stores_running_out_of_ratchet_clank/

Insomniac Games (developer) commenting about it on Twitter: https://twitter.com/insomniacgames/status/719987254131707904

I guess this is somewhat of a good thing but right now I'm worried because I pre-ordered my game from Best Buy sometime in March with the free shipping option and noticed that on Monday they sent it via Next Day Air and well, I have not received my copy. The UPS tracker isn't even past the first stage so I don't know if Best Buy even actually handed it over to UPS or just placed a shipment with them? I did receive and download the pre-order bonus code but now I don't even know if I'm gonna get my game.

Anyway, that's my issue with this. What does everyone else think of this? Is this a good thing for Ratchet & Clank, Sony, 3D platformers, and Insomniac Games?

Or is this just a case of low quantities being available? If so I have never noticed that with a PS4 game, I've noticed it happens with Nintendo games fairly often but not PlayStation games. Is this a start of a new trend? To force people to pre-order if they want a physical copy?

Pre-orders are stupid and anyone that does them is an idiot.

Except for games that are limited to a specific country/region.

@GTR12: Not all, just mainly Pre Ordering at Gamestop is a waste of time as their is next to no incentive. Bestbuy typically does a 10 dollar reward cert on many preorders with gamers club. 30 buck for 2 years, get 20% off, bonus reward points and like I mentioned first, many games have a $10 reward cert bonus. Then use the best buy credit card to get the extra bonus points caked on top and well my friend, I have gotten tons of games pretty much paid for by reward certificates by doing this. So no, sometimes preordering games you know your going to buy when they release to get bonus's is a smart thing to do. You would be idiot to not take advantage of these things.

If your worried about a release, just don't open the game right away. Have some willpower and you can return it if it ends up bad. But if it's good then you just earned yourself free money for just applying a preorder. (Pre-ordering on BB.com only charges you when the game ships or you pick up in store).

@brn-dn: Sometimes the UPS and USPS trackers are slow to update. If it states it shipped that means that Bestbuy did box it up and create a shipping label. Eventually UPS.com should update that they picked up the package. I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you don't get it today or tomorrow then you might want to investigate.

I normally don't pre-order, but I had some GS credit and I pre-ordered my copy through them. When I went to pick up my copy yesterday the GS manager told me they had already sold out of all of their copies of the game for people who hadn't pre-ordered. This was like two hours after the store opened.

I went to Target later in the day and there were no copies on the shelf there either. So just out of curiosity I asked the guy in electronics, and he told me that they sold out of all their copies earlier that day. So I guess the game is selling well. Of course I have no idea how many copies each store had received.

Lets all pre-order a game we know nothing about and a brand new developer, yeah... lets just give them money before the game is even out, assuming it will be good.

I only pre-order those limited SF fightstick because capcom refuse to make large quantity of them. As a matter of fact, the only way to really obtain these types of item is through pre-ordering well in advance because they sell out fast. Not sure what's the deal with Ratchet though.

I was at my local Target last night and they had zero copies of the game. They also didn't have any PS4 versions of MLB The Show 16 but for some reason they had it for PS3. They had a banner advertising Ratchet & Clank as well as a mini-standee advertising both Ratchet & Clank and The Show but neither game were in stock.

I also went to Walmart and they had Ratchet & Clank in stock but this is a very old and crappy Walmart that hardly anyone goes to and is being replaced in a few years. It's basically a Kmart.

It's dumb not to pre-order. I always pre-order games during the E3 event, on amazon if you preorder 3 or more games you get 30% off. You can literally preorder 10 games, cancel 9 and still get the %30 off. Not to mention they don't charge you till its shipped. So I pre-order every game I might be interested in, in the next few years and then cancel if once more info comes out and I don't want it.

I've preordered a lot of games before the price jump in canada too so I get 30% off the old price. I haven't paid more than $50 for a game in years (full retail is $80). I can actually buy games, beat them and sell them for a profit.

I just got ratchet and clank for $25 in canada, retail it's $50 here.

Obviously you can't read... so I'll say it again

1st point - Get 10 bucks in reward certz just for pre ordering

2nd Point. No money is collected until item ships or is picked ulp

So how are you paying before the game is out if no money is taken until it's shipped or picked up. For example, I really want the new Doom, so I have it preordered on best buy.com. I get 10 bucks in rewards just for pre ordering it. Say it's getting some questionable reviews and might be crap, or severely broken. Then I can just return it, no loss. But if it's a good game then I just got a free 10 bucks to put towards my next game. If i just waited until after it released and purchased it, I don't get the 10 bucks in reward certz. See how this works dude? Yup your just one of those idiots who aren't smart enough to take advantage of offers.

$10 and what? that expires in 6 months or whatever. Then you have to shop there again, what if the next game that you want is cheaper elsewhere even with that $10 saved?

Some developers now wont switch the servers on until day 1, so reviewers cant review the game fully until then. I always wait for a general review, even if I am sure of purchasing a game.

Not sure how true it is, but I was advised by a clerk at Gamestop in Canada (as was a friend at a different Gamestop) that the game publishers are no longer allowing them to return unsold games so that if a game doesn't sell well, Gamestop is stuck with it and as a result they are no longer taking huge shipments of games like they used to, that's why they're pushing people to pre-order games.

So it may be that Ratchet and Clank aren't necessarily selling out in the traditional sense, it's just that stores are not stocking the same quantities of new games as they did before.

I think Insomniac shipped less copies because the last couple games they made didn't sell that well.

I love Ratchet, but I am not going to pretend the series hasn't been getting less sales which each game.

It's understandable they would be cautious.

Well its 10 bucks towards the next purchase. New games on release generally don't cost less than my 20% off being 47.99 plus the 10 bucks in rewards. If you don't understand this logic then well, your an idiot (your own words dumbass)

As points they don't, I choose to bank them and then turn then into a cert when I want to use them. when you move them into a cert they do expire at some point i'm not sure on the exact date as I never had to worry about it. I buy tons of games.

@opticalilusion:

Yea. Best Buy has been putting up way better deals than ebay and amazon especially if you are an unlocked member like myself. I rarely purchase on amazon because they have been lot more expensive. Best Buy even price matches amazon. Best buy has better deals, 20% off unlock member, $10 preorder points, has best buy points to bank (dont expire) and even price matches so it isnt even close. Amazon has gone downhill with their game sales. For me, it has been either psn or best buy for ps4 games.

Another money saving tip is to look for best buy gift card deals on ebay. It was ebay daily deal where I got $75 best buy gift card for only $60.

I preordered uncharted 4 like 2 days before release after all those rave reviews already came out. Lot of times preorders comes with additional dlc like uncharted 4 did.

Still stupid IMO, the best buy manager in your area could raise game prices by $10 which would make your points worthless (as recently Amazon has done, they used to have the best console priced games).

Best Buy have the same prices at all best buy stores and their website. Best Buy managers arent jacking up prices especially with their sales in the weekly ads! Really? Best Buy easily has the best deals when it comes to new games and it isn't even close when you consider points, 20% off unlock member and PRICE MATCH guarantee. New games? Best Buy. Used games? eBay.

As a non-American,

Gamestop have R&C for $40

Amazon have it for $35

Best Buy is $40 and with your 20% off, its $32

Ok, its cheaper at Best Buy, until...

Groupon has it for $38, and you get $10 off for registering a new email address, so BAM, that's $28. There you go, I made my point, its NOT always cheaper being locked into 1 retailer.

Thanks for the tip about the $10 off coupon on Groupon. This game was actually on my TO GET LIST so I actually just purchased it off Groupon and it came to only $30.40 after tax. I'm never locked into any 1 retailer like best buy. I actually purchased my Uncharted-Nathan Drake Collection PS4 off Target for insanely cheap price with a stacked coupon that included cartwheel and a few cheap PS4 games during black friday week. However nowadays Best Buy seemed to be having the cheapest deals for new games. PSN has improved and surprises me with some awesome flash deals. Amazon used to be great but has went downhill with game prices. Newegg used to be great and that changed but they did have a deal for Doom for $44.99 just a couple days ago.

You're not locked in, the other person I was having a discussion with was arguing that best buy has "the best prices for new games".
