Played the demo, was not impressed or even remotely excited. I'll still buy it for the local co-op, but I will wait until the price drops.
The lack of scary to me isn't as big a deal as the health regain. Scary is to the beholder, and to me fighting zombies or other evil creatures in combination with only having a few health pick ups per level makes it scary to me (even if the creatures aren't terrifying). I'll still pick it up, but i'll wait tell it price drops a lot
As long as Capcom get around to releasing a HD collection one day containing 1, 2 and 3 (0 would be nice too) I could care less. Resident Evil's demise began with 4 IMO.
Wasn't interested in it in the first place. I played RE5 for a couple hours and tossed it back on the shelf; everyone says Raccoon City was just awful. But maybe third time's the charm? LOL.
I've got better things to play than another damned sequel in what's become a really rotten shooter franchise.
At this point it's safe to assume Capcom looks at what fans want and do the exact opposite.
They are actually managing to get worse with every consecutive video game they release.
I figured the latter out months back. But health regen? In Resident Evil? No thank you. Looks like this is another game I can cross off my list this year.anime_gamer007
I'm with you, AG007... Regen Health is beyond the pale.

It's quite a fall Capcom did. They went from being my number one favorite publisher/developer last gen and ones before it to just ruining almost all their franchises and pissing off gamers with on-disk DLC.Health is one of the things which creates tension in a Horror game... I cannot believe they went to Regen now. Depressing to think about.
CAPCOM, where have you GONE???
Sounds a lot like Call of Duty.
I wasn't going to buy it anyway, but I may rent it.
It's Capcom sucking up to the lowest common denominator. We're all babies who need our hand held apparently.Floppy_JimThey need the money to fund their projects. It's what most game companies now do. Not saying it's good, but that's the logic.
The survival horror genre wont live and die by Resident Evil. If Capcpom will not deliver then the franchise is dead to me but I know who will...

Okay, first off, Last of Us isn't a survival horror game, it's a survival game. Secondly, we hadn't seen anything of Mikami's new game. OMG health regen! The world is doomed!!! People's overreactions on the internet are getting more and more ridiculous. The health system has no impact on the games tension, its all about atmosphere. And I've heard good things about the demo, particularly the Leon section. And there is nothing horror about The Last of Us. SepewrathSomeone has clearly not played the old RE's or any survival horror game where you had to be extremely careful about health resources.

And, someone else is reading far too much of the tone they'd like to hear in a post, and not listening to the actual CONVERSATION.

Don't sweat this ****-bag, AG... She'll go back to her Hannah Montana re-runs soon.

We don't know enough about these games to know if they will be successful with either survival or horror, but we can be hopeful

LOL Exactly. If things continue to progress the way they have next generation ie the dumbing down of titles for casuals and day one DLC fiasco, I can honestly see myself bowing out after six generations of exclusive console gaming and switching to an extremely "cheaper" alternative in a gaming rig.

Listen to this tone, instead of immediately crying like a 6yr old girl, perhaps you should wait and see how they work it into the gameplay. I remember years ago, people throwing a fit about Metroid adapting a first person view and how it couldn't possibly be Metroid. Then Metroid Prime came out and showed people exactly how wrong pre-mature hissy fits can be. But don't mind me and my common sense, go back to your cry-fest, I'm sure the others there will happily supported your close minded, asinine views. If things continue this way, all there will be is a bunch of whiny, insecure babies, crying about anything that is not exactly the same way it was in 1997. Seriously I respect your opinion but Mikami has credibility if he says he is making a pure survival horror game I will take his word every time over yours. And as for TLOU I am following the game a lot, ND are not saying 'horror' because it's not a good way to market it to the masses. But from the 3 videos shown an details given, it absolutely is a survival HORROR, just look at the signs...
If this doesn't sound like survival horror than neither are the original RE trilogy.

I'm just saying don't get all excited over literally NOTHING so far. And as for Last of Us, I know it's leans heavily into the survival aspect but only when the game is in my hands while I know how well it plays up the horror angle if at all. From everything that's been shown, calling Last of Us a horror game is like saying I Am Legend is a horror movie, it's not.EDIT: To be clear, I'm not saying Last of Us is going to be a bad game or it won't have atmosphere, I'm sure it will. What I'm saying is I don't see much in the line of horror from the stuff they've shown off.

Have you seen The Road? TLOU seems a lot like the road and that is such a scary and emotional film. Now add the cordyceps freaks :o
I will remain optimistic about the two games but obviously not blindly.
It's all about the money, and I'm sure Capcom mentioned that they were more interested in the money, and that they feel that the horror part won't basically get them much. I hope Konami don't change Silent Hill to an action type game.At this point it's safe to assume Capcom looks at what fans want and do the exact opposite.

it stinks but im still getting the game but maybe there will be no Health regeneration in the professional difficulty of the game. i just like the fact that you get bit in the neck or take a sickle to the face and you just hold your stomach then you find Green Herbs and heal what if there are no zombies or BOW but its just the PPl of Raccoon City smoking to much XD
Resident Evil hasn't been about survival horror for years now. Why are people still grappling with this?
Anyways i'm fine with RE6 being the way it is. It is annoying that it's becoming harder and harder to find a good horror game, and survival horror seems to have died out completely, but the action-focused Resi suits me fine.
Sure, i do miss the old days of old-school Resi Evil, but I still have my playstation and gamecube in working condition and occasionally play Resi Evil 0, 1, 2, 3 and Code Veronica.
Yeah who wants to pay for PS3 that used 25GB discs as standard starting level for a game, then only use 1/3 of the disc via XBROKE port? I was a fan of Sony's DVD format 10 years ago, and as i predicted on these and other boards M$ would call their next system XBOX Infinity, just leap over Sony 4 this time, why fake another Sony PS3/XBOX2~ 3(60) again? just jump to INFINITY/8, I was right or influenced them via the boards/net. With Sony going Clound based, I can hear the M$ tag line, with XBOX8 OnLIVE the possibilties are INFINITE.
Anyway back to RE, I have a 3DHDTV I want RE in real HD, and in 3D gore with MOVE support. None of which can be done on the XBROKE DVD player, it's a fact. If I wanted a single DVD game I'd go play PS2. Let's get real. If RE6 comes out on 1 DVD it's another 2/3 empty wasted Blu-ray disc and that might explaing why the graphics are muddy, and lower resolution than RE5 overall. Everything I've seen thus far proves that, and the entire game masks it with dark boring environments with next to no physics at all, just bland world with up close shiny textures on a few characters, but no real detail compared to Uncharted, or massive physics in the levels like Killzone both of which are real Blu-ray level games in 3D graphics and Killzone supports MOVE. That's PS3 gaming that cannot be achieved on XBROKE DVD player, it's fact, nothing to do with fanboy nonsense of childrenland. I demand quality, not payola and briberybox.
To me that's a legitimate point, say if it was music collections... if you could buy the entire Beatles music catalogue on one Blu-ray 25GB disc, 24bit master tracks for $60(which is insane of course) or just be able to get a third of that for the same price, why would you accept that? I'd rather get it all, not just a third of their songs for the same price and also have lower fidelity files because of storage capacity restrictions etc. It's the same for games, to me if RE6 is a DVD title is should cost less, especially if it's only 8GB not 25GB game or close to 25GB HD game.
getting it anyway don't care ... its gonna be good
health regen is fine and won't feel any different as most games use that system
it isn't scary ... i didn't see any thing on the game yet and resident evil hasn't been scary since the first 3 games
Resident Evil has a solid 5 million fan base no matter what ... scary or made for mass appeal ... they just trying to branch out the series to more people ... i don't have a issue with that
At this point it's safe to assume Capcom looks at what fans want and do the exact opposite.

you got that right
i know i was tryin to say he could of been the bigger man but this is the net, ppl cant speak their mind or say their opinion without someone lashin out in w.e way they can. but back to topic, honestly resident evil has been my fav. game since it was released. i just hate to see it go down these roads capcom taking them to. why dont they listen to their fans god knows whyJoKeR_421And you could have simply ignored it and stayed out of it. Its pointless to try and talk to someone like that, who attacks you the moment you say you don't agree with their view. If they simply said they disagreed with me, I wouldn't have responded like that, but you have to speak to children like their children, its the only way they understand. And like I said to the other people, regenerating health is not the end of the world, the moment to moment gameplay and atmosphere is the biggest deciding factor in how much of a horror experience it will be. Just look at RE5, it had a health system, where you couldn't even bring yourself back from the brink, that took even further than any RE before with the health system, but would you call that a horror experience?
Still buying it because it should be good but I do agree the regen health system should be scrapped and just keep herbs and first aid sprays.
I've only played resident Evil 5 and I really liked that game, so i can't really talk about it being scary. But Resident Evil 6 does look like a great action game.
I'm still buying it. Only difference is that now, I'm not pre-ordering and waiting untill whenever I can catch it on sale.
