READ NOW GTA 4 fix...

Now by no means is this a fix its really just to point out how serious this is can become with some ps3 and 360 users.

i would be so mad if mine copy didnt work...i guess im lucky...i would flip...i would have broughten it back to the store RIGHT away and demanded another copy...and if that one didnt work i would keep doing it till it does...and the fix? i would have to disable my rumble? auto save? all that just so it MIGHT not freeze? HELL NO! everyone that has a faulty copy bring it back and DEMAND a new working one...this is garbage...mine works fine but this is just not rightsteve4200

its not the disk bro, i return my copy THREE freakin time, i even went as far as switching it with my friends disk! and still doesnt work, but it works fine on his? so far he hasnt gotten any freezes, he has about 18hrs so far gameplay

I got a 60 gig and so far things have been running smooth with ONE freeze where I have to turn off the power in the back.

Online is hit or miss, but I considered that would have happen with such a popular game. Hopefully like COD4 and Rainbow2 they will get it running smoother.

But some of the problems are absolutely crazy and should not be sold that way!!!

my PS3 hasnt froze in actual gameplay but it has froze on loading screens before.

I have something happening that sounds different than these issues. I have the 80gig PS3 and I was at the Gamestop midnight sale. Got home, loaded it up and it worked great. I have been playing it a lot since I got it. Today when I go to play, my game would not load. The game started and it went through the still images like it does as it is loading and then when the screen goes black and the name of the mission is in the lower right hand corner of the screen, it won't go any further. It cycles through the music and never actually loads the game. I tried throwing away all game data and reloading the 3+ gigs onto my hard drive and again, wouldn't go past the black screen with LOADING RUSSIAN REVOLUTION" in the lower right hand corner of the screen. It isn't frozen cause the letters are still flashing. I then tried dumping the saved games I had (I lost everything) AND reinstalling the game on the hard drive again. Now, once the game is loaded, I once again have the black screen with the STARTING NEW GAME... flashing. It's been doing this for about 25 minutes. I even exchanged the game once as well.

Has anyone seen this??? All I am hearing about is freezing while playing...not this loading issue. And if this is a problem, why did it work for me for 5 days and then start acting up?? Any help is greatly appreciated. It sucks bad enough that I have to start over, I'd hate to not be able to play this game. Oh...and I checked my other PS3 games. They all are working fine. Uncharted, DMC4, COD4.

chrislavine, I have been experiencing the same problem as you. I have a 60GB and have been playing GTAIV in marathon sessions and I'm now 30 hours into the game. My PS3 froze for the first time this morning. When I tried playing it this evening it hanged on the loading screen just after the pictures like you described. However, after 2 more tries it finally let me in and ran without a hitch.
Btw, I'd advice that everyone backs up their GTAIV save files, apparently sometimes the game will erase them when it crashes.

same here. deleted old save and it hangs on the previous save. i have a 60gb and the game never froze, it just hangs on the loading screen.

that 12 step program is a crock. they havent pinpointed the problem so they're just throwing a bunch of random solutions out there hoping that it'll work for some ppl.

Thanks!!! ...I saw on another thread that signing out of PS Network should fix this...AFTER I erased my save games. Damn. I'm at work now. As soon as I get home I'll try it out and let you know. Thanks for all the help. it is GREATLY appreciated.
