How can you say something like that it isn't even out yet!!

Exactly, people get so hipe about a game that isnt even out and say its going to be GOTY. Far as the game goes it could be a big let down. So before u say this game could be goty u might want to play it first. Videos and all the previews doesnt mean anything untill u play the game yourself.
3 points 1. God of War 3 was not game of the year material. 2. Portal 2... seriously. Game writers decide game of the year. Game writers will vote for Portal 2. Look at trends and get a grip. 3. Good on the people who are getting the game even if they don't like the western themes. The game looks like a blast. For those on the fence, watch Deadwood. You will see how amazing western stories can be.edthetinker
1. Can you further elaborate?
2. What current trends, the last two GOTY's on GameSpot have been an RPG and a cinematic action game.
3. Has the potential, I could see any film/game genre has the potential to be good, it doesn't mean it will.

I said it could be game of the year... didn't blatantly say its going to be already.
I prefer the look of Mafia II tbh...ryrulez
i do agree with that aswell... Mafia 2 has been a game which hasn't been said alot about but looks incredible :)
I personally think this game could easily be the best game of all time, if it lives up to its potential. Best game of all time for me, anyways. I find it annoying that people are hating on it for being a Western. Seriously? The city gang/drugs/shooting genre is overdone. Westerns are actually pretty fresh in the world of Video games. The game looks to have a lot of fun factor (unlike GTA4) and some really innovative modes (free roam looks epic, and the mexican standoff at the start of FFA games looks exciting.) The Last Guardian will be good, as will GT5 and Fallout New Vegas. I'll probably be getting Madden 11, though, because I've never had a football game before, and Madden 10 was awesome when I rented it.dkjestrupI understand all of that, but westerns are just boring...well it doesn't appeal to me like it appeals to you just be glad you will enjoy this more then I will.
Yeah basically this game should make a real good run at GOTY. Does anyone know what, if any, the PS3 version will differ from the XBOX 360 version? I can't wait for me and my "posse" to tear it up!
fallout should have a good run at it. I just think Red Dead is going to have so much side stuff to do it will keep everyones plate full. The online alone should keep every satisfied for months!
From what i've seen so far it's possible, but there's also games like God of War 3 and Bad Company 2 who are huge contenders aswell.

Tbh, GOW 3 is good (just borrowed it from a friend for a few quick trophies), but not THAT good, so I dont believe it's gonna be anywhere NEAR RDR...
GOW 3 has no real replay value (which is why I am happy I didnt actually buy it) , but again, that's everyone's own opinion ...

Agreed.
But we barely know anything about LBP2. IMO, Red Dead will win several GoTY awards. I just don't know if GS will be giving it one. There's too many games out there to decide.although I'm excited for RDR but now I think GOTY will be LittleBigPlanet 2. This game is revolutionary.

yes.....I am not a FPS guy, so I dont really play shooters too much....I have found this game to be very forgiving to people that cant shoot worth a damn!!! In some missions were I get all turned around, the rest of the "leaders" will forge ahead and take care of most of the drama, leaving a few for me to get.....this is great for people that are learning how to use a "shooting system" on a next gen system, there are many things to do that dont even require gun play so it appeals to all types, hard corps and the like. This game make me want to ride to every part of the map to see what is over the next hill and when I go to save and quit, I turn off the system and immediatly want to turn it back on......and this is just the single player aspect.....I think that any game that seems so inviting, compelling, and visually amazing deserves a place on the ballot for a Game of the Year title. +1 for my vote.
It has a chance to win it, it's top three right now in my book, only time well tell.I have seen alot of information, gameplay and screenshots for read dead redemption and it looks really incredible. I loved GTA IV and since it is rockstar creating this using the same engine and physics it looks similar but a whole lot improved. I know its early to judge but in my opinion this could be a possible Game of the Year. Who else agrees?

i say its one of the contenders no doubt but it depends on who the other contenders are and we are not even halfway through the year my friend. still plenty of games to be released...i mean lets at least wait until after E3 to start talking about GOTY...now if we go the GOTM for funsies well thats probably a no doubt with its only true competition being Alan Wake and ModNation Racers i think RDR takes the slight lead
EDIT: also SMG2 will be up there
