Red Dead Redemption - Why It's Rated M - Nudity

I don't see the big deal tbh, I was playing GTA vice city at a pretty young age, don't remember exactly but I think I was about 10. Apart from getting addicted nothing much happened to me. Seeing violence, and nudity for that matter, has very little effect on most kids.

Anyway, RDR could have easily been a T rated game, you can't even hire hookers this time. However, knowing Rockstar they just HAD to include some form of nudity. So yeah, those few scenes are pretty much the only reason it's M rated.

Thanks god I had two older brothers growing up who could buy the M games...

If you have GOW3 I see absolutely no reason why you can't get RDR. IMO GOW3 is the most violent game out there with an interactive sex scene, so if you're parents let you have let I think you should be able to get RDR.

Okay, so today was the last day for the Gamestop deal, where you traded in two choice of games, to knock off $40 on either Super Mario Galaxy 2, UFC Undisputed 2011, or Red Dead Redemption. So, I had my $20 + $3 for my tax, both of my video games I was trading (Super Smash Bro. Brawl - Wii, Mass Effect 1 - Xbox 360), went to Gamestop, and of course since it's rated M, my dad had to buy it for me, since I'm not old enough. So, of course the stupid cashier lady (that doesn't usually work there) says Red Dead Redemption has EXTREME content, and asked if it was okay for me to buy it, or whatever, but she had to put in that word "extreme". So of course my dad was like, well what do you mean by "extreme"? And she was all like, "Strong sexual content", "Lots of nudity", "Alcohol/Drug references", "Lots of violence",and then she had to say "Made by Rockstar who made GrandTheft Auto series",etc. etc. My parentsthink they know all about the "Grand TheftAuto" games, and how "bad" they are, whenreally they are just another violent game, that everyone thinks is so bad. The only reason they think it's bad is because of the 'Hot Coffee' mod in one of the games, where you could have sex. Now I'm not aloud to have any Grand Theft Auto games, or anything made by Rockstar. (I have Saints Row 2).Now my dad could careless how violent a video game is, and usually he is okay with Alcohol/Drug references, but for some reason, I usually cannot buy a video game with nudity. Don't ask me why, they think I'm some baby, and if I wanted to see nudity so bad, you can search it on the internet, but I know not to do that, since I would get in huge trouble. I guess they don't get that, and don't trust me. I have other games, with the same exact kinds of things, such as God of War III, or Fable II. So my question is, does Red Dead Redemption REALLY have that much nudity in it? Keep in mind, my parents think you can have sex in stuff in games when they say "Strong Sexual Content/Nudity", don't ask me why, I guess the don't get it. A game would be rated "A" or not even rated if you could have sex in it, the only exception is Fable II, which you can have sex in, but it's blacked out, and they let me have the game (not at first but I convinced them). So, do you think this is fair, or should they stop being so strict and let me buy it? I'm going into 9th grade, and they are still overprotective over me... I know a kid in 6th grade who has this game, and his parents are strict as well, so I'm not sure why I couldn't have such a game.

I just got this game today. I'm gonna have a lot fun roaming the wild and just shooting things.

lets see this as you are not old enough for the game in my opinion, once your 15 - 16 you should no right from wrong by then so i don't see the problem with game like that anymore, just due to the fact, is it just me or is all wats in gta just funny and its worse for kids to watch the news nowadatys for violence, even tv drama's theres loads of reference to sex day time tv talk about, and swearing kids swear now for fun its just in there pallet of words like we use please and thank you, they use swear words in a whole different meanin to wot there ment for, i hear kids and i do it myself having a conversation and just swearing in it. not few games it frew everyone else. but lets be honest the real thing we shud focus on in this topic is not tht u didnt get the game but the woman who was serving really doesnt know anything about games, so shudnt pass judgement unless she knows a good knowledge about games and is a gamer herself. but im not sure wot best buy is as im from the uk is it just a game store or a multi product store, because if it is a game store why dont they hire people who know wot there talking about. so many times i tried getting jobs at game stores because i play games all the time since i was little and have every console, (not rich nor parents rich, just hard work and saved) but yet never got offered then go into the same store see theres a new person asked them about something and they did not have a clue why.bezza2011

she is INFORMING, which is her job. especially when it's obvious a parent is buying a game for an underage kid.

It has nothing to do with knowing about games, it has to do with taking responsibility for the actions of you and the store that you work for.

If she HADN'T said anything, chances are, some fat lazy welfare cheating muppet will see it as an easy excuse to sue the store for damaging their child in some way. and don't tell me they wouldnt. if someone can sue google because they dont realise it's dangerous to walk on a highway, someone WILL sue for that!

First of all, ass is not frontal nudity.

Secondly, RDR does have frontal nudity, I do believe. GTA IV doesn't, but the DLC episodes do.

There's one sex cutscene at some point in the game; female nudity is exposed. Other than that there's really nothing provocative other than prostitutes approaching you and a woman's bare shoulders being visible one morning.

Reading your post, I understand where your father and the GameStop clerk are coming from. They simply don't want you exposed to that type of content.

That said, I've been playing Grand Theft Auto since I was 9 years old.

I'm just surprised they bought you God of War III. It's ten times more provocative than RDR. Looks like they're being responsible for once.

There's no nudity that I came across. There's 1 cutscene but you can skip that. It's not even that bad a game.
