It doesn't matter where you are...you can play with people worldwide... although the further you are from the host the more likely that you will get lag.

The only thing is if you want to get downloadable things you need to make a account for that region.

I think it depends on the game. The PS3 itself is region free, so it's up to the game designers to implement whatever they want.

Off the top of my head Killzone 2 lets you play with gamers anywhere in the world. Other games might only allow to play within the same region (isn't that one of the complaints about ModNation Racers?)

Actually certain games servers are locked to that particular region like Modnation Racers if your in Europe (and own the PAL copy of the game) you can only play against people in the PAL regions (Europe and Australia) not sure if United Front Games have patched it yet. The Buzz! Quiz games are region locked but those games are only locked to specific countries. If the servers are region locked it goes like this people who own the PAL version can only play against people who own the PAL version same with NTSC.

The only exception I can think of is Demons Souls. I imported it from China back in June last year, so I play on the Asian servers with the rest of the people who imported.

Yeh i know... was referring to COD online but yes my statement was misleading as topic was asking about games in general. Sorry!
