Ok, so I have been able to get this to work when I am at my house.... and that's cool, but I REALLY want it to work when I am at work.... So I am trying it at work now... and no luck. When at home, I select (on the PSP) *Remote Play *Connect via Private Network (I then select my Access Point when prompted, NOT the PS3, but my access point itself) It then works like a charm. So I tried that at work today, same steps, but when I get to access point I select my work instead of my home. I get an error message that says "The PS3 system that this system is registered with was not found...." blah blah blah I assume I need to use the Private network option ONLY when I am at home. And if I am at home, or work, and I try changing things up by selecting: * Remote Play *Connect via Internet (and then selecting either my home or work account, depending on where I am, I first get a message that says "Please wait... It will take at most 90 seconds to connect." But then it just quits and says "A connection error has occurred. The connection to the PS3 system has timed out." So does anyone know a way I can fix this? Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks! :)

"A connection error has occurred.?"

May the cause are:1.ID was wrong.

2.You have not upgread.

3.The some thing in net company are wrong.

I know a friend and he`s PS3 was con`t to bind the net. Then he find the it`s net company`s wrong.

I`m sorry my english is so bad.

it looks the net is all right.but way?

did you try it to your friend home?

if it can work in your friend home, your net is some thing wrong.

if can`t work in your friend home, maybe your ps is some thing wrong.

then you need to the ps shop ,maybe they can help you.

Don't forget that remote start doesn't work over the internet; the PS3 has to be left on and in remote play mode. I assume this is a technical reason, where only the PS3's WAN is active when it is in standby mode, and it is not connected to your home router. In other words, it can only be remote started via its private network, and it's private network can only be accessed locally. Have you tried it with the PS3 on and in remote play mode over the internet? Edit: Also, bear in mind that unless you have an extremely high upload speed, say from FiOS, the response time will be MUCH slower and the image will be significantly degraded.

I dont want to have to leave my PS3 on all day in case I need to access it..... IS there any way to get it to remote start over the internet... ????

You don't need to leave the PS3 on all day. In the PS3 remote play settings there should be an option to enable "remote start" through internet. Turning this on means that while your at work you can use the PSP to turn on the PS3 and start remote play as long as your wireless at home is still on

Nope, you can only power on your PS3 over its own "private network". Note here that the instructions require you to leave the PS3 in remote play mode if you want to access it over the internet.

I don't want to say anyone is wrong... but I think you CAN turn the PS3 on and off via an Internet connection outside your home... Ok, for the heck of it last night, I reconnected my PSP to my PS3. I then decided to try logging on via Internet (never worked before) and IT WORKED! Logged off, did it again. Worked GREAT! Shut everything down to go to bed, and I heard the PS3 turn itself back on.... (that's strange I thought...) turned it off and started back to bed again. It turned itself on again.... So I went to brush my teeth, came back, and it was off again. I went to bed, and it was off when I left for work this morning. I just tried logging in from work, and I am getting an error - 80550385 So I have made progress... but it still isn't working 100% correctly. (In fact I cant get it to work when I am outside of the walls of my home) Anyone have any ideas? I really think this will be sweet... if I can get it to work from my work....

Here is my latest problem.... Here is a copy of what my Port Forwarding screen looks like : http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f65/NoWareMan9/uPnPscreen.jpg If I have BOTH boxes checked, the the PS3 will turn itself on, then eventually shut itself off, unchecking the box, and I cant get remote play to work. I CAN log on from work though, if I have someone here to make sure I log on before it unchecks the remote play box and shuts down. lol yeah right..... OR if my wife turns the PS3 on, and puts it into remote play mode, I CAN log on from work. (Even if the remote play box is unchecked.) Today I unchecked BOTH boxes, and the PS3 does NOT shut itself off... but, I cant log on from work... I CAN log in from home. But if I am at work NOTING will log in... not even if my wife turns the system on and into remote play mode.... So tonight I tried checking just the bottom box, and it does NOT turn itself off, and I can still log in from home..... but the real test will be if I can get it to log on from work tomorrow. I have a bad feeling t isn't going to work. Looking at my screen, anyone see anything that might help to solve this issue?

Remote start works via the Internet

Go here

http://playstation.custhelp.com/

And look for "How do I use the Remote Start feature"

Hope this helps.

Well, the smart thing that they did this is because if you lose your PSP, say you forget it somewhere and someone steals it and they try to connect to your PS3. It won't let them because the PS3 isn't on in the first place to start up the Remote Play. Although, they should have this feature work because it is easier to access your PS3 from work or whatever, but they should add a password so that others can't get into it before you do it. It makes sense, because you're the only one able to access your own content.

OK! So that did help, and I never saw that, so thanks for the help. I still think they should've used a password feature though, for security reasons.

Considering that PSPs can be be unregistered from a PS3, I doubt that this matters
