So my launch ps3 just died which is sad but now the Ratchet and Clank Crack in Time is stuck in it. Is there away to get it out? I searched and all the posts said no but they where also old posts so I thought maybe there has been a way found? It does not stay on long enought to eject.

I believe this is only for 40 gb, but it's worth trying.... when the ps3 is off (no light is on,) hold the eject button, and then turn on the power switch in the back; I heard the disc will come out. Whether it works or not, it's worth trying at the least.

that only works sometimes if you are lucky it did not work with me when mine died about a month ago. You can go on youtube and find a vid that shows you how to take it apart to get your game out, i am far from a person who is good at that kind of stuff and it was easy for me, just be careful with screws. BE WARNED this may void Sony fixing your machine if you decide to send it in, and if you send it with the game i heard they give you a refund for the game but not the actual game not sure how true that is though.

Take a hair dryer, highest temperature and blow into youe PS3 upside down for 10minuts, it has to get hot, wait till it cools down and it boots normally. From this point it can YLOD at any random moment unless you leave it upside down. I know it sounds weird, but everytime I had it normal it YLODed after a few hours, but now upside down it runs over 10 hours (data transfer from old to new PS3, had it on over night). To bad it doesn't continue @ 3 hours left, guess there's some broken files on my system :S gotta see what I can do ^^

nothing works. I had the same issue with my launch 60gig. If you are sending it in for service you have to let Sony remove it and mail it back to you. If you are buying another PS3(like I did) ripe it open. Those are your only 2 options.

I was afraid of that. I might get a new one but I still want the old disc out. You can't use the old hdd on the new slims either can you? Anyway thank for the input. I might try to do the fix myself since I have nothing to lose and I need to take it apart for the disc anyway.

Fix it with the hair dryer, it's by far the best method, my YLOD PS3 is still running (upside down ^^) the data transfer to my new Ps3 Slim, over 600GB, running 22 hours now, I know it sounds stupid, but you'll find tons of vids on youtube proofing it works and you can take my word that it worked for me

Sony's exchange program for early models is now $99. Send your 60GB in, get a refurb 160GB and your disk back.

Hmm. that is good to know. I think shipping is extra on top of that too right? I still think I will try to fix it. If I fail I don't mind getting a new slim later because I never used the extra stuff the 60gb did like BC. It costs $50 to get it done here by a local "expert" so that is an option too. I would just feel better if I could get the disc out. I like the slot drives but this is the down side!

$99 total. Shipping to and from is included in that price.
