why not? they made silent hill, why not Resident Evil? right?justin315
Maybe cuz capcom didn't want to do it?
Hope this one gets done, as well as a DMC game for the psppiranha_incA dmc game was announced for the psp and they had started creating the game but the project was stopped soon after
Nope, no RE.. which is shame since RE4 controls would work great on the PSP.
I think RE1 was released on the Playstation store though.. Or was it Japan only?
J-link
japan only dude
Well I can understand why.. Advertising useless petitions is just so.. so.. Well, useless I suppose.J-link
Not all petitions have been useless, some have worked. Also Capcom publicly stated if it got 10,000 signatures they'd take action and the petition reached over 31,000. Mods I am only trying to answer a question & let someone know that gaming petitions in general can succeed. I am not advertising or posting anything in relation to showing any petition. If this post is against the rules feel free to delete it.

What proof do we have that Capcom actually said it? The petition makers word? 10,000 is such a small number that I consider such a statement ridiculous. It might as well be just a plot to make people sign this petition more.. So yes, I consider this to be useless advertising and I'm glad that Gamespot deletes such posts.
Dont get me wrong, RE would be great on PSP and there most likely will a RE game for it at some point. But it wont be because of some online petition, thats for sure..

Capcom stated it in a press release... I'm not going to risk posting a link but if someone wanted to find it they could easily by doing an internet search.

Good god, do you honestly think Capcom would say such a thing at a press release?! The entire gaming indusrty would laugh at them! Go find that press release then and dont make up excuses. After that, I'll shut up. But I have only heard about this:
In an e-mail sent to the petition creator, a Capcom representative made note that for real results to be seen, 10,000 signatures would be needed: "As we plan for future games the team will definitely consider the fans and specifically your petition. It does have impact. Keep me updated on the number of signatures. If you get over 10,000 that will draw significant attention."

I can't post it or I could get banned. You seem to want that to happen as you keep trolling at me and trying to get me to post such stuff that could get me banned. I don't know why you're treating me this way.

I honestly just think its stupid that some people keep their hopes up because of some online petition that makes no sense whatsoever.
Can you really imagine Capcom saying:" Yes, we're bringing a Resident Evil to PSP, if 10,00 people (Which is a small part of the number that we expect it to sell) on the internet sign it. You know? The internet? The place where people lie and sign these petitions ten times and such?" ...On a press release none the less.
And as you can see, I have not been banned. I posted a link to a page that is about the petition. However, it is only a news article and I dont advertise the petition in anyway. You can do the same. Dont advertise it, just prove me wrong. And it's not in my nature to troll, I only want people to think more clearly, rather than believing that Resident Evil will come to the PSP because some petition and because one person claims that he got an email from Capcom.
The # of signatures on a petition is like a survey. Sure 10,000 is a small # but its only a fraction of the population, just like a survey of 2,000 can accurately portray who that nation will vote for in an election. So the actual # of supporters/consumers interested in RE on PSP would be very large depending on how many signatures the petition got, they would then project this to the full population.
There is absolutely nothing scientific about online petitions. The internet is an uncertain thing... for all of the success stories, like spreading word-of-mouth like Phoenix Wright, there are also games like Psychonauts or movies like Snakes on a Plane. The # of signatures on a petition is like a survey. The survey of 2000 that you talk about isn't 2000 randomly selected people... there are many factors that go into polls and surveys.

You're completely correct. But the projection from a 10,000 signature petition still applies, just not in the same way a political survey does. From 10,000 on an internet petition it projects to a much larger # for the total population.

You've also got the unpredictability of people finding ways around filters and signing it over and over again. 10,000 signatures doesn't mean 10,000 people. At all.I'd say the amount of duplicates out of that 10,000 would be quite small, like maybe 50 people decided to post twice. I don't think anyone's going out of there way to sign a petition 2 or even 3 times, especially when it requires emails. But the petition has reached about 32,000 now, so 10,000 was definitely more than reached.
