Hello everybody :)

After playing RE4 , I found myself as I am not playing a horror genre game . Really guys it is not scarier than the other older RE games or Fatal Frame series or even Silent Hill Series . I'm not saying it is bad , it is one of my favorite games . But you can't say it is a Survival Horror game :?

After watching RE5 trailers and screenshots , I realized that it is not a Survival Horror game either! . The enemies doesn't seem to be Zombies any more . They are more stylish than zombies :P . rarely you see blood in the game I think :? . So I think it is not really a Survival Horror game , it is 90% an Action Adventure game :? .

Just want to let you remember the old resident evil 3 ...

I respectfully disagree. When I first got to the village and accidently grabbed the shotgun and was promptly decapitated by the chainsaw lunatics. That event truly startled me. IMO it is still horror/survival. I cannot wait for 5.

RE4 changed the series from SURVIVOR HORROR to ACTION ADVENTURE in my opinion, there wasn't anything scary about it, but I hope RE5 has mixture of old RE style like RE1,2,3 and Code Veronica.

But the new style seem to be making the series even more popular than it was you can't really blame Capcom for doing that.

Yeah, I think the games have lost some of the scary parts, and have obtained more "action-adventure".
Now, the zombies can use weapons, they can run, they can think, they can even talk! They aren't really zombies anymore. It annoys me sometimes, but the gameplay is still hot.

RE5 wont be scary at all, black people are only scary when they have guns.. and I don't expect these black "zombies" to be toting glocks.

I love RE4, and i agree that the games has changed but not like 90 %. The horror is still there, and you are like half a second of getting killed most of the game. Making it more of a adventure is for the better, and with RE5.... being chased by insane possessed Africans with machetes and stuff... you cant even see them in the dark, that's scary =P

RE 4-5 = good mixture of survival horror and action adventure

I think RE5 and 4 is both an Survival horror game and Action adventureAssassinslay

yeah, effectively it's being produced to be a mixture of both. that's just good for business and marketing.

and RE4 def. was survival horror, there were many parts in which your pulse began to beat a bit quicker than normal.

I completely agree with you except I call RE4 (and looks like RE5) action horror. I love RE4 as well but it is no where near as scary as survival horror games. The slower pace and survival aspect just make the older games so much better.

Make sure you get the new Obscure game coming out, it still has the old gameplay left!

I only felt the terror from the previous ones in the castle sewers. But the rest of the game is just an action adventure game. For those who say its scary, have you ever played any old style RE game before?

Horror? Absolutely GONE in RE4. Sure it gets creepy. But it's not Horror. I would have the same effect if someone jumped out of my closet and said "Boo" ..

But meh, They seem to like they new way. So I guess the next 20 RE games are gonna be like RE4.

It is an action adventure game where you have to deal with horrific things and survive while doing so.

If your equipped with a shotgun, a powerful hand gun, a magnum, a sniper rifle, a sub machine a sh*tload of herbs and different calibres of bullets all tucked away on your spacious briefcase. Yeah it doesnt invoke fear/horror as much when you have this much weapons ready enough to start a war and doesnt help that you can blow multiple heads if you just line em up. The most funny thing I did in RE4 was when I waited for the Ganados to climb the ladder, I just knifed them to death while they climbed up.

re4 is a very good game. Granted it is not that scary but it is supensful. Re5 is going to be a cool game. it may not be scary or "survial horror" but it is a good game. Also re4 is a better control sequence than the other. It is a lil scary but not very. And if you played re4 you should know that they are not zombies, they have a parasite that is controling there body. Lord saddler is enabled to control them. In re5 wesker combines the t virus and the los illumnatoes which create a super virus. So they may not look like zombies it is because they are not zombies.

Well I think it's a bit of both... But I'm not into any scary games, so my opinion isn't very matterful. Yeah I just made that word up.

Well, off to watch Hellsing.

Action/horror yes, survival/horror no. There are still plenty of jumps and frights to be had in it... not the omg-I-don't-want-to-go-around-that-corner scary as found (to most) in Dead Space but still enough to earn the horror status.

I guees I cant base my opinion completely off the demo, but from what I've played of RE5, it is not a survival horror game; it seems like an action shooter game. Normally, like with Killzone 2 for instance, I would want co-op; but with a RE game . . . I say bad move. By the way, Killzone should've had co-op. . ..

It's more so an action game, but with a few survival horror elements mixed in(more than in re4).

It's a TPS.

It doesn't have any horror elements and you always have enough equipment.

Decided not to buy RE5, I was very excited for the game up until a week ago when I started having doubts. Judging from the reviews is clear that Crapc... sorry Capcom wanted to appeal to gamers who are into Gears of war type games, infact they took alot of inspiration from GeOW. I dont think Capcom cared what the Playstation or Resi fans wanted. Everything in Resi5 screams of Deja Vu, the opening is similar to the RE4 opening, the chainsawguy, the big troll etc etc. Capcom just got lazy and strayed from their orginial vision. Anyone remember the whole Heat and Cold system that would affect the gameplay (mirage, hillucinations) Capcom were on about 2 years ago? back then they really wanted to make RE5 into something special but I guess after the success of Gears and the fact that the team behind Resi were big Gears fan Capcom thought "what the heck", dropped the orginal idea of making a scary RE5, added a partner throughout the whole game, copied RE4 and made it into an action co-op game.

The only word that comes to my mind after being about half a way through the game at the moment is - Action. Lots and lots of action, you can forget about Horror/Survival.

This is not Resident Evil series but entirely new (action based) approach from Capcom. Definitely influenced by other action third person games in last few years.

It's a good game if you take it as Action based title, if you're looking for RE2/RE4 feel, atmosphere and general love of Resident Evil franchise - this is not the one. ;)

I am sorry, but Resident Evil is done for me.. the real Resident Evil games died with COde Veronica... I´m not saying that The fourth and fifth are bad, they´re really good but in a different way. I will really miss the fright of playing the slow and paused horror of the old residnet evil games. The advantage that RE had over other survivl horror games, was that in differencve to Silent Hill and Alone in the Dark, RE had an incredibly intricate story and had some reality into it... like a virus of some sort could someday, turn all of us to zombies... the story was really clever....

Now I see really fast, dudes, throwing molotov cocktails at me, using machine guns and having insects bursting out of them as if it was an Alien MOvie.... It´s just not the same... I might as well play call of duty or something....

I will really miss the old ones... RE 1 was the best, >I think
