Before anyone states, I know graphics aren't the most important part of a game, but my early impressions on Resident Evil 6 can't ignore the fact that the visuals aren't on par with Resident Evil 5's stunning graphics. Am I alone in noticing this? I can't understand how the visual design as seen so far in RE6 differs so much from RE5 which was released over 3 years ago, and yet doesn't come close to equalling the quality in it's predecessor when it should be surpassing it after all this time.

Just something on mind, which won't impact my overall evalution on the final product, but thought I'd share. Thoughts?

I think theres a lot that factor into this, RE6 seems bigger with 3 campaigns said to be 4-8 hours long each. 4 player Co-op and most likely there will be the bog standard multiplayer modes too. Seeing as the PS3/360 are getting really old now i guess sacrifices must be made somewhere and RE6 just seems a whole lot more technical. Saying that though i find the visuals of RE6 to be really nice, it looks semi-cel-shaded and im a sucker for cel-shading!

I feel like sequals should (most often) have better graphics than the 'first' game, and this is true when it comes to most games. RE5 had good graphics and I have yet to spend a lot of time analyzing the graphics of RE6. Maybe someone can provide a side-by-side comparison shot -then we'll see. I would expect nothing less than great graphics of this new Capcom game.

Hope they spend more time on the actual game than the graphics this time around.

Slight cell-shading you say? Hmm... I'm not too fond of cell-shaded graphics. I liked them in The Darkness 2 but hated them in Borderlands

Graphics are the least of my worries about Resident Evil 6. The game looks so over the top, the series has gone so down hill

I completely agree. Resi 5 is one of the best looking games of the generation and, by way of the E3 demo, Resi 6 looks mediocre. Not just mediocre-looking, but in gameplay too. I feel that, just like Uncharted 2, sequels should improve (improve RE5 visuals!?) upon the technical aspects established by the predecessor, but RE6 looks way off. The gameplay trailer looks a bit better, but I guess trailers are usually manipulative in that way. I'm so disappointed, in fact, that I've removed it from my 2012 must-buy list and into rental territory. But yeah, absolutely 100% with you on this one...

I had the same issue with RE5 - in fact, I stopped playing and only finished it recently just to say I passed it. Despite the fact it looked amazing, I just couldn't get into the story. I'm taking a wait-and-see approach with RE6 - hopefully they get a better balance this time around.

No side by side comparisons?

-

5 was okay, nothing special. If what you are saying about the look of 6 is true, then it'll be a shame. I think they should have better visuals, but I wont be overly displeased if they don't. As long as the gameplay is solid. Which 5 was not.

Stevie!? That really you? :o :P Yeah the action looks over-the-top, but I'm still gonna get it, because despite the fact it may be disappointing, I'll probably still enjoy it.

Hey mate, yeah gameplay (or more specifically gunplay) doesn't look on par with RE5 either, shooting zombies in RE6 (from the demo anyway) just looked weak with a lack of impact. I hope I'm wrong, because I'll still get it. But like you, when it was announced I was ecstatic, but now it isn't one of my most anticipated, other games that look far better have taken it's spot :)

The gameplay video I watched today impressed me a lot. The graphics, in my opinion, look a lot better. Thou I think it's too soon to identify how good the graphics are going to be.

It doesn't look that much better, I just wonder if Wesker is coming back. I thought he died inside an active volcano at the end of 5. Or is the story trying to make it that Leon Kennedy is somehow a Wesker clone?

I dont think he will be back, his son "Jake Muller" is the third playable character and most likely he is going to turn into the villain at some point, he apparently has the same abilities as Wesker and is immune to the C-Virus. He is being hunted for his blood (Cure) so it just makes me think he is going to break. Personally i cant wait for RE6, looks really good rrom what ive seen! Barry better be in this game! Where he at?!
