WOW my old account Solidsnake2020, I can't believe I mixed up the preferences and couldn't enter it again, I was level 24 and might been higher by now. Now I have to start all over again.

Is good to see my old post is back.

Whilst i can see the point that you are making, i don't think that Capcom have detracted from the overall horror of the series, sure, it may not be as scary as 1 or 3, but it was hardly a wonder through some sort of wonderland. In response to you main topic, i do think it has lost some of its way, but its now lacking puzzles which is what made the first 3 games so great.

The last time I was scared by Resident Evil was the zombies busting through the glass at Kendo's Gun Shop when I was 9 years old...since then, I've never really found the games scary, but RE4 especially--maybe because of how fairly easy it was, or maybe because the Ganados weren't all that scary....the chainsaw guy was pretty damn disturbing, though.

As for RE5, I'm just happy to have my favorite RE character back in the lead role.

REmake is the scariest, I think. But all of them are so scary, I'm scared really easily.

The problem with me isn't they got rid of the zombies, the ganados are smart and hard to shoot, or that they located it on a different location, sometimes changes are good, cause otherwise you feel like you play always the same game but with better graphics. So I think RE4 was great. But what I disliked is the action oriented turn it took. More action is a good idea, but here they got rid of the puzzles, there isn't any. The scary atmospher is also missing, and what I miss the most is having to think how to spend well your ammo cause you hadn't that much, in RE4 you justy can shoot everything down and still throw away ammo cause there isn't any room in your case. However RE4 is a great game, and I think that a change was necessery and most welcome but maybe the change was too drastic.

I like the idea with the old resident evil where the camera background are just steady with the unique dirctional buttons functions to walk or run, it makes it more scary when ur being chase by the zombies, RE4 was like a first person shooter and im not a big fan of fps, (except for cod4 and resistance)

Resident Evil 2 was the creepiest...come on...best in series.

4 absolutely blew in the horror department except for one part, and you all know which one I mean.

5 looks to restore the horror, I can't wait. But if 5 isn't scary, then I might have to write off the series.

I can't remember where I read it, sometime around E3 last summer, but I read where several people involved in the production of RE1 were going to be involved in RE5. Not sure who though or what part of the team they're with.

No worries here, I know Resident Evil 5 will be on point. All the Resident Evil games I've played (Zero, One, and Four) made me jump a couple of times. I plan to get RE5 whenever it comes out. That's another game I know won't let me down (in terms of expectations).

yea the main thing is they went from survival horror to action/horror...there is not much survival, i love re4 beat it liek 3 times lol but i miss how in the classic RE games you had such a limited amount of ammo, also re4 just focuses more on intensity and acction instead of you being scared sh**less lol i they can find a way to mix the re4 view with the classic RE horror and puzzles and hell locals (i truly miss the destroyed city) oh and a nemesis liek enemy...thats why i look at RE4 as more of a side story (it makes me feel better....)

I'm going to have to say that resident evil 4 was the best game of the series. The other resident evil games all had horrible controls and because the graphics were so poor they weren't even scary. I'm not saying I did not enjoy them but if they kept it the same every game it would start to be getting a little plain/old.

i think they should keep the controls from RE4 and bring back Zombies, the zombies we all remember from in the past RE games. I think possessed towns people aren't scary

I know what you mean. RE4 was a really good game in its own right, but it did deviate from the things that made RE... well RE. The awkward shooting, the conservation of ammo, the puzzles and of course, the zombies were all missing from RE4 and I think that it was too many changes all at once for the series.

I didn't find RE4 to hold the same "scary" feeling of a survival horror that its predecessors possessed either. The original was probably the creepiest (although REmake would definately have taken that crown if it was indeed the first one and not a remake!), closely followed by RE2. This might be down to the fact that I was nine-years-old when I played it, but I still think it holds true!

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed playing RE4 and will most probably enjoy RE5 as well, but it just didn't feel like a Resident Evil game to me. Hopefully, RE5 can find a happy medium to appease both series-long fans and new followers brought along by RE4. We'll just have to wait and see...

Resident Evil 4 was a more "edge of you're seat" kinda game and the scare factor kinda took a backseat overall. But I think since they were taking it in a new direction made me really like it anyway just cause it was something different. I hope in 5 though they bring back some of the scary elements that got me into the series in the first place. Resident Evil 2 was my favorite.
