just finished the SP campaign, and i'm only asking because it totally rocks. it's one of those rare shooters that successfully combime massive scale, thrilling gunplay, nail-biting challenge and impressive technical achievements into a complete package. putting the icing on top of the cake is a full suite of multiplayer contents, including the exciting co-op mode.

now, i haven't played Fall of Men so i have no idea what it was like. but around here i've often heard people saying R2 sorta didn't live up to its predecessor. seriously? i mean, how is it that such a fantastic game can be a letdown?? i'm all ears.

Whats not to like? Maybe the graphical downgrade from the first.

Wow, really? I haven't played 2 yet, but the first game looks pretty bad. Does 2 REALLY look even worse?!

No - this guy's a nut. There's room for improvement, but it looks better than the first.

I thought that R1-2 where pretty good shooters. I wouldn't say that the series revolutionized the shooter platform "BUT" I will say that it can hold it's own inacrowded FPS market...I'm really looking forward to the 3rd installment.:)

I didn't really enjoy the MP that much, but the co-op was fantastic and the SP was pretty decent. As far as graphics go, I don't know about anyone else, but there are times when certain things get pixelated whenever a lot happens on the screen. Kinda took me out of the game a little bit, but not a major complaint.

I borrowed this game and thought it would be great since most people I know really like it. However, I just got bored halfway through it. It would go from way too easy to too hard and back again without any reason; which almost reminded me of why I didn't like the first Uncharted. The story was pretty boring as well, and I actually don't even remember what it was. Co-op is fun if you have people over, and I never played the online multiplayer. The boss battles were cool simply because of how large the enemies were, but other than that it just lost my attention, which is surprising since I'm all into the sci-fi stuff. Being an exclusive it didn't really do much for me.

I actually like both games equally. They are just like Dino Crisis 1 and 2, different games, but great games nonetheless.

I never really understood the criticism over R2, the game is fantastic, the campaign was great, so was the multiplayer.

I enjoyed Resistance 2 very much. But I wish it would of been more like Fall of Man such as: Weapon Wheel and multiplayer. Fall of Man was sick and it was pretty long.

I hated the multiplayer and the fact they removed the weapon wheel. The campaign was a chore. The first was way better in my opinion

i played the demo of Fall of Men and i thought i prefer not having a weapon wheel. that really adds realism and tactical depth to the action.

as for the MP... no idea how it was like in the first game, but all i know R2 is rock solid in this department. can anyone provide a detailed anecdote on how it's not as good?

I really liked both SP's - Fall of Man was a better storyline though. I never played the MP for the first one, but I am in multi-player hell, as we speak, in the second one. There are several things wrong with R2's MP, so much so that I might not buy R3 because of it!

1. Disconnecting from the servers after every MP match makes for a very long process of finding matches - I feel I spend 1/3 of my play time searching for matches.

2. The in-game logistics could be better. a) Being able to mix and match your grenades and secondary weapons to customize your gameplay would be awesome. b) The in-game mini map should most assuredly be at the bottom of the screen- not the top, where it obstructs 1/4 of your ability to see enemies. c) The ability to spawn on a team mate is there, but is restricted to only team mates that are not in battle, which to me is the whole point of being able to spawn on each other - to help in the fighting! d) being separated from your party at the start of a match. They broke each team down by squads (5 players per squad) which is fine, other than the fact that even if you enter a game with only 2 people in your party, you sometimes get put into different squads - :(

3. The longevity of the game is just not there. I didn't end up playing the game until some time after it was actually released. I decided to go for the platinum, wihch entails having to play a certain amount of MP. Once I started that, there were several bugs with it. I researched the problems I was having, only to find that most of them were never fixed/patched - DESPITE the fact that R2 reps were making statements such as "We are working on a solution to the Allies menu problem that will be fixed in the next patch we release" --- that statement was made in 2009, the patches came and went, and here I am in 2011 and am having the same problem with the Allies menu that everybody else had!

4. Sometime in late 2009/early 2010, they issued a statement saying there will no longer be any support/new patches for R2, but they will leave the servers open. So, any problems that weren't fixed in the couple of patches that were already released, we are stuck with, indefinitely. I guess it would be impossible for a game company to offer support for their games forever, I get that, but at the same time, if you are making a game series and you want return customers, and you know you are going to come out with a 3rd game, then why not continue to support your product between releases??

The only reason I am still playing the R2 MP is that I am going for the Killing Machine trophy, which mandates that you get 10,000 kills in online competitive mode. Fine, I'll grind it out, but the more I play this game the more I hate it and the more I am leaning towards being one of those gamers that hates it when a game makes you do their MP - no matter how bad it sucks.

Fall of Man's MP is cleaner and runs alot smoother. The maps are better, more organized. Just everything about FoM's MP was better imo. For me, R2's MP and Co-op was sort of just... there. It was all over the place, maps were horrible and didn't scale to the number of players in game.( 8 player matches on that huge forest map meant for 32+ players.). Weapon wheel was a big deal for me too, surviving long enough on a match in R1 to find every weapon within a map, the player should have the ability to keep em.

IMO the first multiplayer was horrible! You couldn't find a ranked game with more than 3 people and the custom matches were all 1 hit kill, which is stupid when the resistance has some of the coolest weapons in any game. Everyone just used the assault rifle and if you got hit in the little toe you died.

Hmm, My friends and I never had that problem, and we played it well over a year when it came out. Maybe its like that now and most vets of that game moved on or just play custom.

I really did not like the sp, but I love the co-op. And the competitive is good but I hate how it is so much harder to find a ranked game than it is to find an unranked game...I dont see the point in having unranked.

It wasnt a bad game, but ive played much better shooters. Insomniac games is one of my favorite video game organizations and I know they improve their games. Resistence two had alot of cool weapons but its the little things that make a video game great and this game had alot of little flaws.

A little off topic this game NEEDs a cover system.

I prefer Fall of Mans telling of the story through a narrative perspective. Also missing the weapon wheel was a bit of a let down, with a 2 weapon system it made it feel like every other FPS. Multiplayer and Co-Op was where it was at for me. Co-Op though can be frustrating when you get people in a certain class not doing their jobs, i.e. medics trying to kill everything and not healing you. In Competitive if you run into "wraith jumpers" remember the bellock is your best friend lol...

That they got rid of the main campaign multiplayer. I was told that the local multiplayer of the first game was identical to the second game... and that was completely wrong. It was the only reason I bought the second game so I basically wasted 30 bucks.

I was so excited to play the main campaign with my friend : (

It was all right. I certinally enjoyed most of it. But after playing the First Resistance game and giving a retrospective review, I felt as though Resistance 2 was a bit easier and kind of lost that shine from the first game. Connection issues were a big issue for me which kind of ruined my on line expereince and ultimately cost my HDD to corrupt.

I only voted Meh because there was no horrible. IMHO, it blew...weapons were weak, reload was slow, and it lacked splitscreen coop which is something every game made needs. Sold it and glad I did..

Ya Resistance FOM didn't have that issue back then. But a lot of people still play it but only with the Carbine and Sniper Rifle with one shot kills on. I really don't get it. Which is why I refuse to even bother going back to it these days. I am debating wether or not to play through Resistance FOM and Resistance 2. Everytime I try to play FOM now I just feel it's bland.

resistance 2 has no offline co-op iirc...apart from that it's better than f.o.m
