I have been watching resistance 2 for sometime now and was wondering if I should play the first Resistance game just to catch up on the story? Because when I played MGS4 i had to go up to my attic and pull out my old Ps2 to catch up on the story.

Basicaly I'm asking if it is strongly story based game.

You don't NEED to play Resistance 1, but it's a good primer.

The story is important to the campaign. The story in the first one is good, but the storytelling is pretty boring. Resistance: FOM was great considering the fact that it was a launch title and still holds its own pretty well even by today's standards. I would definitely get it at $30 - it's a steal, and I'm sure that there are still people playing online.

Yeah, I agree that it's not necessary, but you still should play it. :P

Not much to know. If you would like a quick explanation then here is one
Hale is US soldier goes to england to help there. Gets infected but strangely he doesnt fall in coma. He helps England regain control by destorying the main Chimera citadel in England. By destorying the main citadel he is caught in the explosion. They think he is dead but we see him in some snowy place and some Secret service guy lead him to a plane.
So if I rented it and play through it. I'll be good. Remember I'm only 14. lol

Oh, so money's tight? Anyway, yeah, you should be good. It's about a 12-15 hour campaign so make sure you've got enough time. If you just want it solely for the sake of story, a cheaper altenative would be just reading about it on Wikipedia or something. But if you do rent it, definitely check out the online play if you can find a game that isn't one hit kill. :P

It's a great game and it's hella cheap. Pick it up if you want something fun. :D

Besides it will make R2 seem all that much better. ;)

Bought it this Friday as a used. 25$. Worth the money. You should buy it, the story is more than "Aliens are attacking, get their guns and shoot the crap of them."

I think it will also help for Rsistance: Retribution. Adds content to each game if you connect to your PS3 to your PSP.
