I've never played a music game and I want to make sure the first one I get is a good one. I've read good things about the Rock Band Bundle but would Guitar Hero World Tour Band Kit be worth waiting 4 months for?
Definately rock band, it is by the guys who did the good guitar hero's (1 & 2), harmonix. Ever since they left, GH has suffered tremendously. Also, RB has a crazy amount of DL content, and usually 3 - 4 new songs every week with the occasional full album.
I'd wait for GH. There's a preview for it up on IGN's site now that explains what all is new in 4 but the basics are: 1. guitar and bass have open notes now that use strum w/o hitting a button 2. guitar has touchpad on new guitar controller for tapping and bends during sustains 3. drums are modeled after a real digital kit, quieter and are pressure sensitive 4. 85 tracks ship with the game, 100% master tracks with DLC including full albums to come later 5. 4 channel song creator with assignable effects using Line6 POD technology GH is going to wipe the floor with RB
I personally say wait for Guitar Hero. Every single song on Rock Band is complete trash IMO. Biggest mistake I've made in my (gaming) life buying that.
I've never liked the GH selection of music. Rock Band is much better on this front. Of course, if you purely like the heavy metal filled GH, Rock Band has plenty of DLC.
I would say you should wait and then wiegh things in the future. Other thing is Rb is already getting cheaper. I have rockband and I don't regret it. I already have a whole bunch of awesome songs on it too that I doubt would make it to GH. Sure all the technical new advance things are cool and all but I have a real guitar and practice a lot. I am perfectly content with the RB drums. The more and more these fake instruments get closer to real ones makes more practical to just get real instruments.

thats my thoughts as well, that preview ign did blew me away (unfortunately maybe to the point of skipping GH: Aerosmith)
GH i would wait just because Harmonix left does not mean anything GH is the same as always and has better track listings and the hardware is alot better rockbands feels very cheap made which is its biggest issue

Oh yeah, this is another extremely important issue. My Rock Band guitar broke within the first week of use, and that's saying a lot. I never EVER jam on my controllers, and I barely ever even used it. There are also reports of people's drum pads not functioning, and there was an article in Official Xbox Magazine with pictures of their drum pedal which actually snapped clean in half.

wow, what kind of music do u like? if its not rock, then why'd u buy rock band? i mean i know that not every song is the same genre of rock, but seriously if u think that every single song on there is trash then u just must not like rock music, which would make me think that it was pretty dumb to spend $170

yeah my drum pedal has that problem right now. duck tape does not work lol
Imo, RB offers a much better list than GH. Whenever they release a full oficial list for GH WT I will see if its worth getting, but Im most likel not gonna get it ever anyway, down where I live it cost almost an eye of the face
Im waiting for GH4 mainly because the hardware looks far superior. I guess it depends mainly on If you can wait untill october, if your desperate to play with your friends during summer then Rockband isn't a bad choice its just a better product will be out soon.
