We've seen the pictures of this new "rumoured" machine. Why would Sony do this, though? The original PS3 design is nice, shiny, and appealing. This new design is ugly and boring. But, it's smaller. What if this redesign was cutting the prices of PS3 production, and is then related to the price cut that we hope so much for? Just a thought, I suppose.

Ummm... Yeah. Basically the price cut one of Sony's biggest concerns right now. They absolutely have to be able to manufacture the PS3 for cheaper if they want to cut the price. The only logical way to do that is make a slimmer version. So, yeah.... That's what that's all about. I'm sure of it. If the Slim is indeed fake I don't think it rules out the fact that Sony is working on something much like it.

I still see no way of a slim. First of all you have all this advanced tech that would need to be shrunk. This would take some time to build and make it fully funcional. Also it dose look like it got rolled over by a steamroller! :)

Even if there is a PS3 slim in the works, I doubt It will be out any time soon.

I personally don't believe it was faked. We shall see, but... the slimming down of a PS3 is entirely possible. Now....how big the powerbrick will be... *shudder*

Have you seen the difference in size of motherboards even just going from the original full-BC units to the current model ps3's? That in itself has shrunk significantly. Also, with making the power supply external (holy **** how big will that brick be?!), they could knock off a lot of free space on the inside to make it possible. But then again, that's if they were sensible and chose to retain functionality. Knowing Sony though, they'll remove or neuter something else in the transition to a slim just because they can. When if anything, they should be restoring functionality back in as soon as possible.

thats only a rumour, they are not going to do ps3 slim in this times

If that's w hat Sony says, you have to take it with a grain of salt. As a manufacturer, Sony can't afford to just announce an upcoming new model or an upcoming price cut. Such a thing would simply cannibalize sales. And of the three in the race now, Sony is in the worst position to do such a thing.
