Im really interested in "The Last Guardian" and since I never had a PS2, I never played the earlier ones. I would like to see what team ico is all about and was wondering If you guys would suggest getting Shadow of the Colossus. My PS3 is not backwards compatible, so I would have to find a cheap ps2 somewhere. I only want it for this game, then I would probably sell it b/c im tight on cash. Is this a good idea or should I just wait? Are the graphics good or will I feel they're a little lame due to being spoiled by the PS3. Also, Is that game hard to find?

SotC is a wonderful game, not hard to find, it's a Greatest Hits title so $19 new. A new PS2 is what, $99? THe graphics are not "next gen" but I don't think you'd be worried about them. Ico, on the other hand is hard to find. If you want a PS2 for more than this title, I'd say go for it! But if you think spending $120+tax to play Shadow of the Colossus is steep, hold off.

If you have never owned a PS2 before trust me, you will play other games and not only SOTC (which is an amazing game and is a must have in any collection)

Games to play on ps2?... MGS Essential Collection GTA 3/Vice City/San Andreas Dragon Quest 8/Dark Cloud 1 &2/ Rogue Galaxy Ico/SOTC Okami DMC GoW 1 and 2 FFX/Star Ocean till the end of time Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2 Jak series Ratchet and Clank series Psychonauts Those are just a few games to start with...try out the legacy forums for more information on better games to choose from though Also there is no upgrade to allow BC on your PS3 nor are there any PS2 games on PSN. best thing to do is just buy a PS2 for 100 or borrow a friend...seriously it is probably the best console of all time when it comes to games...

It is worth getting if you are planning on playing other games too. It wouldn't hurt to wait a while either until you have enough to spend on it. Really it is your call in the end.

In my honest opinion, the Playstation 2 is a must own console. If you can't find more amazing titles to play on it besides Shadow of the Colossus, somethings wrong somewhere. Definitely get one, keep it, and go back to all the amazing games you've missed. CosmoKing made a great lists of games to look into. Spefically Okami, Ico, the MGS series, and DMC series.
