Should I be worried about buying a used PS4 and PSN account?

My main worry is the PSN account because it's under his name. He says you can change everything and you can change the username by paying a fee in the PSN store... is it true? I have never used a Playstation before so I don't know. A 1 year PSN+ subscription and $20 store credit is already linked to his account so I can't make a new one. I'm paying retail value for the entire thing. Is it safe to buy it?

Why the hell would anyone know this? It just came out and you're probably the only person in the world already buying a used PS4.

I do believe though that I read that you cannot change the name on a PSN account. Pretty sure it was in the FAQ

No. But PS4 does give you the option of allowing your friends to see your real name in addition to your Online ID. You can also choose to import your Facebook photo to be used as your PSN profile picture if you wish.

@kalv: As far as I know, you cannot change that username. If you want to create a new account for yourself, it will be a sub-account tied to his current master account with PS+ subscription.

You should definitely read PS4 FAQ guide before attempting anything. = )

Do NOT buy someone else's account. that's one of the worst ideas you could have.

Yes, we are here to help each other out with gaming related question, but there are somethings that are so obvious that if you could apply just a LITTLE common sense....you wouldn't have to ask.

If you can't afford to buy a new one then wait until you can. Buying used is never preferable especially from someone who can't guarantee reliability. There is nothing on either console that would warrant rash decisions like this one.

F*CK NO!!!! THATS A SCAM, also you can never EVER change the PSN ID once created, there is no such thing as a "pay a fee and be able to change the ID name" on the PSN store. If you are going to buy a PS4, buy a new one. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT BUY THAT USED PS4, ITS A SCAM. And dont buy other peoples PSN ID, make your own. And I'm going to sound mean to you but you need to be told straight out if you are asking these kind of questions on obvious signs of scam....GET SOME COMMON SENSE.

I dunno how many accounts you can have on PS4, but you can have 16 on a PS3.. So if you bought someones account you could use all the games when you are logged into your own account. So that totally worked. Dunno if that works on PS4.

Nothing wrong with buying a used PS4 if you know and trust the person, or by using a secured payment option like PayPal. Although i would not pay retail price for one that's already been opened and used... for example for all you know he could have it in a very tight space with little to no breathing room for the console.
