Just go with a slim , take a chance.
For games ...... play through Uncharted Drake's Fotune to get ready for the amazing looking sequel. (rent or buy for $30) .... andevery owner should probably have MGS4 , LBP , and Killzone 2 in their library ..... after that , let your tastes lead the way.
I would say the original. From Bestbuy, you can get this sweet bundle.
I'm seriously considering getting one, but I have $100 in Gamestop money, so if I do, I'm getting a Slim, because I can't get that bundle.
I think the current ps3 looks better overall. It has a quality look too it, that I can't get from the slim. Also Ive read rumors that the slim uses an inferior blueray drive. The slim does have 120gb though. As for games, in the ps3 section of gamespot theres a list of all time best games for it.
The slim PS2 in general worked a lot better than the fat PS2 last gen so you were just very unfortunately. The PS3 slim now is in no way inferior to the current PS3 on shelves now in terms of specs. However, its best to wait a few weeks or months when new hardware is released so that you can read up on consumer feedback.
Should I keep clicking on these threads? :P
Get the slim. Fo sho. People saying it's made of inferior parts are just speculating. I'm sure the quality is just as good. This is an important time for Sony and they aren't going to release a new design that's just going to break and turn people off of the ps3 experience.
It plays the same games, it's not really that distinctive, and there's no backwards play..................stick with the originalSlim will have 120g of memory compared to fat's 80g, Slim will run better and faster, and the slim is... slimmer. So you tell me :)
if you can, wait until october to buy the slim, just in case there is any slim-related issues.

Obviously PS3 owners would stick with their BC PS3's (like me) but for those that don't have a PS3 its harder to come by a BC PS3. So the choice is between a fat 2 USB 80 gig for the same price as a smaller PS3 with 120gigs. Any logical buying would be able to see the benefit in the slim.
I'd say get the slim unless your interested in installing linux on your ps3. the slim uses a lot less power, probably runs cooler and probably works better than the fat. i'm still getting use to how it looks but the more i look at the new design the more i like it.

Obviously huh? Im selling my 60GB PS3 for the Slim without looking back. What is it with people and the importance of BC? Its stupid, im not keeping a system that can easily get YLOD just so I can play PS2 games.....wait, I dont play those anymore. I'm on my second 60GB because my old one got the YL, im not going through a third.I don't know a whole lot about the PS3 console in terms of hardware and whatever else on account of I didn't intend to buy one until the price drop. Now that there is a new Slim coming out, Ive read a few things here and there about the difference in hardware and what it's made of being inferior to the current PS3 quality, and I believe I need the opinion of some PS3 owners who would have some knowledge on the subject. In the previous generation I had the original PS2 stop working as well so I bought the Slim PS2 which broke, and then bought another Slim which broke again around the time that my original PS2 finally quit working. Not sure if I should use that experience on this situation since the hardware is more evolved and what have you. Any input would be appreciated ^^. Also, if anyone knows of any PS3 exclusives a serious gamer should play, gimme those names too, discs or PS Store games. ^^ Thanks in advance folks.Tureani
I'd get the slim. It will have a bigger HDD than the current $299 PS3. Plus, although I love the PS3 I have...it is massive and weighs a ton. The slim will be much smaller and lighter and therefore better.
PS3 Slim for sure. It's at a good price, nice gb size, it's a sweet deal overall. Comes out September 1st I think... (it sounds like you've just had bad luck in the past, but don't worry) inFamous, Uncharted, Resistance, Little Big Planet, Pixeljunk games, Mortal Kombat 2, Ratchet and Clank Future, Oblivion, Warhawk, Sacred 2, Fat Princess, just to name a few awesome games for you.DevilBorgIt's going to be the same price as the fat PS3 (80GB).
Anyway, the PS3 Slim is the obvious choice here. It's got a bigger HDD than the fat PS3 that's also $299.
That alone makes the Slim the PS3 to get imo. :)
