I've decided that I'm not gonna a get a PSP go for a lot of reasons. So I decided I was going to get a PSP 3000.

But after reading an IGN review I'm not too sure. It complains about scanlines and sometimes the colour looks

bad. I want to know if its okay to get these games on the PSP 3000 and if the colour looks alright.

- Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters, Secret Agent Clank, Daxter, Wipeout Pure.

Help would be appreciated :)

The colour is always fine. Apparently there can be some interlacing but having played mine for the last 8 weeks (having upgraded from a 1000) I can honestly say I've never noticed!!

What I did notice was that the screen was a whole heap better than the 1000!!

I just bought a PSP 3000 a couple of weeks ago for the same reason - Not wanting a GO. Btw I've never had a PSP before. IMO its awesome and you can see the interlacing if you look really closely, but its never noticeable ingame. Only on the dashboard which doesnt affect it in any way anyway. It's just when you move from each icon, the transition of the other icons moving creates lines but its so quick that you seriously have to be looking for it to notice it at all. One thing that is annoying on my 3000 though is that the faceplate is misaligned slightly so the top of my screen has a little gap where the cover should be and a little black rectangle near the right side which can be distracting at times but never really when actually PLAYING a game, just on loading screens and such. I'll post a pic of what im talking about in a sec.

OK so here is the little black rectangle i was talking about: Barely visible, but noticable on say a fully white screen. And here is the misaligned screen - You can see the distortion it creates. Again this is not noticable ingame at all, only on loading screens and such where you get a chance to actually admire your PSP. I forgot to mention btw that I am having lots of fun with my PSP and definately do not regret getting it instead of a PSP Go as it has the same and more functionality and IMO is prettier to look at than PSP Go (when its open anyway). So yeah I'd say go for it!

My 2000 is now by far the system I game on the most. BUY BUY BUY!!!

I've been thinking about getting a 3000 and kicking my 2K down to the roommate or my nephew. PS - Screen misalignment and stuff like that drives ME nuts, too! My DS has that deformity of manufacture.

;)

I have the PSP 2000, and i don't have any color problems and it appear that Sony is finally going to toss out some good game, So i would say buy If you are worried about color schemes check with your local Gamestop and see if they have a used PSP 2000, you can't skype but who cares on that

I don't feel like getting into a pissing match with the 3000 vs, the Go, but this is blatantly false. I can think of two useful functions the Go can do that the 3000 can't. To the TC- Since you seem to be new to PSP gaming and all the games you listed are on PSN, I highly suggest that you actually try the 3000 and the Go out if you can find a place that lets you hold both. For me personally, I can't stand the placement of the analog stick on the 3000 (or previous) PSPs and I actually stopped playing my PSP. You might find the Go's placement to be better (or worse). A lot of gamers are satisfied with the design of the 3000, and that may be you as well, but I know I certainly wasn't. Just don't want you to waste your money.

What do you guys mean by interlacing? I also have a PSP 3000 but I haven't noticed any issues at all regarding the screen.

Take a look at the picture in the signature above your post (the one with the cars). See the horizontal lines? That is what I see when I play Motor Storm or Gran Turismo on my 3000. I know that picture isn't supposed to be an example of interlacing, but it is earily similar to what I see. This only happens when there is motion on the screen. If the image is not moving, there are no lines. It is very pronounced when there is a vertical bar moving across the screen. Instead of a smooth horizontal line, I see a very jagged line moving.

But, as I said in an earlier post, you stop noticing after a while. When I first got my 3000 (about 2 weeks ago), the interlacing drove me crazy. Now, I still see it, but I don't notice it as much. It's like when I first got my 1000 and 2000, the ghosting used to really bother me, especially playing racing games. When there was a lot a action on the screen, the picture would just turn to mud.

So you have to decide what bothers you more, ghosting or interlacing. I still think I prefer the 3000 screen over the others because of the higher contrast. I've gone back and played some of my older games and have seen background detail in some games that never showed very well on my 1000 and 2000.

Just played Silent Hill and noticed it. Doesn't really bother me. Thanks for the info. Do you know if the PSP Gos screen suffers from ghosting or interlacing?

I didn't even notice interlacing until I watched a little video clip on my psp and one of the actor's faces went jagged around the corners for a second. Other than that, imo, the interlacing problem has been blown out of proportion.
