I think the second game looks fantastic but I was just wondering should I play the first game before getting the second Uncharted game.

Yeah, I'd advise it. It's still a great game and playing Among Thieves afterwards will feel like a big step up. You could finish it in under 10 hours.

To be fair, if you play Uncharted 2 without any knowledge of the first game, you won't be left behind. However, the original game is great by any standards, even with a few gunplay/cover annoyances. If you have a chance, play both games, but if you can only afford one, Uncharted 2 is probably the way to go.

Uncharted DF is 29.99$ not expensive at all imo, but babystaplers right if you can only afford one....

the first game is a classic i recommend any ps3 owner should play through at least once. however you can play through the second uncharted right away without any knowledge of the first game

You don't have to, but Uncharted 2 compared to Uncharted 1 is just phenomenally better so I suggest playing 1 first so then you can be impressed by 2

I have a question: if I'm not getting a PS3 until December, would it be fine to just dive in and play Uncharted 2? Will I miss significant parts of the plot? Or would it just be fine to play the first Uncharted later (maybe)?

Yes. If you play the second game first, you'll have no idea who some of the characters are, and what happened in the first game, so complete the first one first, and then go out and buy the second.

Yes, definitely. Then it fills in the gaps you would have missed. Plus its a worth while experience anyway :)

It shouldn't make too much of a difference, the plots are quite different anyway. UC 1 takes place in South America. UC 2 takes place in South East Asia.

Unless you can get the first Uncharted for 20$ or less, just watch the cut scenes on youtube and play the the second.

Like I have been saying for a while there is no excuse to not play Uncharted 1 first since it just came out this generation.

And if you play Uncharted 2 first then shame on you for even owning a PS3 system.

Better yet if anyone out there plays a sequel to a game of this generation without playing the first 1 because the 2nd one is more "over hyped" then just throw your system out the window and never touch a game again.

Ex- Playing Assassins creed 2 without playing the first, Bioshock 2, or Resistance 2 (which I hated :D)

I hadn't played the first one either until later this past week when I picked it up for 27 bucks. After beating it, the first thought that came to mind was, "Why the F--- didn't I buy this game earlier, it's friggin awesome." And now I'm on the 2nd game and all the tweaks are more noticeable. Such a great series.
