I saw the post on the main page that the Bravia was being allowed to stream Netflix movies. Why shouldn't the PS3? I can understand Sony is trying to protect their own content and make money but I would rather use Netflix. What do you think?

it would be nice. at least offer to pay like $2 extra a month to stream through your ps3 or an update for like $20 that would let you stream Netfix movies. That way they would make some money.

They should add some sort of rental service, enforce the multimedia aspect of the console.

Yeah i'd really like it...i'd be able to watch movies on my big screen rather than at a computer desk. If i'd have to pay a small amount per year for it i would.

Why would they do that when they have the video store? Sony is not going to partner with these movie distributors and provide a service, then offer up an alternate service that would take away from their business.

You said it yourself----SONY is protecting themselves. I guess it's like Pizza Hut creating a special room in its building so Dominoes can sell it's brand in the same store. It's just bad business. :) [QUOTE="zheim2003"]

I don't care, I don't use Netflix. If other people want more junk on their PS3, hey, put more junk on it.

I'm all for it, too many people in here are very black and white about the situation - it's not always about what would make money, it's also about appeal and competitive advantage.

I find it funny that people whine about having options, if you don't care for Netflix them don't use it. It's like Playstation HOME, I don't care to ever use it, but I could if I ever changed my mind.

I work at Best Buy, and take my word for it, a great deal of consumers know very little about what every console has to offer, it is not uncommon that a customer I am working with purchases a 360 over a PS3 because of Netflix streaming over having to purchase Blu-Ray movies.

What's interesting is that I have zero intention to ever purchase anything from the PSN video store, therefore, offering Netflix wouldn't lose them money, since they never had my money to begin with, however, they would gain even more loyalty from me.

I agree with this post. However Sony may lose out on potential customers who may just navigate and try out their psn video store and enjoy it and become a regular user. I have netflix, and wouldn't mind being to stream it on PS3. I see no point in paying netflix fees, and then also individually buying movies off of psn. Waste of money for me, that is why I pay netflix. However not everyone has netflix, so Sony doesn't truly lose out to people who don't have netflix, since these are more likely than not to use psn than an existing netflix customer.

I buy bluerays, rent bluerays, and would love it if I could stream some netflix through ps3, since I am already paying for it. I prefer big screen vs. laptop screen to stream my movies. But blueray is KING! Just things to think about.
