The PS2 games are going to become backwards compatible on PS3 by Xmas. So my question is should I buy the PS2 versions, which are cheaper, or buy the PS3 version. What's better about the PS3 version?

For all you SingStar fans with an extensive PS2 SingStar Library, a free game update will be made available by Christmas which will let you play your existing PS2 SingStar titles on your PS3. The new feature will work with all current PS3 systems and will not require a system software update. wow that sucks i wanted i dont know more ps2 titles backwards compat and you seem to play singstar does the rockband mic work with it

I bought Singstart vol.1 and 2 for my daughter for Xmas.. and was told the rockband mic WILL NOT work. I was hoping to save some money there, but i found some used singstar mics, so i bought those

This is forwards compatibility: Forward-compatibility means that games made for the Xbox 360 are made even better thanks to the features and hardware of the next Xbox system. This isn't a side effect of textures being cleaner and upscaled resolution, this is a new animal completely. Imagine playing Gears of War 3 on your Xbox 360 it looks and plays good right? Well imagine that the year after it comes out you go out to buy the next Xbox and it looks even better, it plays even better. Features in the new controller are utilized with the game, the graphics do not only look sharper, but the draw distance is better, the speed is better, framerate, and there are even new features, perhaps even levels via DLC for the game on the third-generation Xbox. http://xboxevolved.e-mpire.com/article/3rd_generation_Xbox/4902.html

If you have a credit card and if your PS3 is online, get one of the PS3 Singstars and download the songs you're interested in and you'll only get those songs you like instead of about 10 songs that just suck :/

Sony can implement software backward compatibility on the PS3. they are obviously holding out because the PS2 is still moving units.

hopefully they're working right now on making games BC via software so that when PS2 sales fall they can introduce a big list of BC games via a system update, hopefully. I think I might get the PS3 version because then I'll have less discs around. Do PS2 singstar mics work on PS3 singstar?
