as a sniper - it's your job to find an effective hiding spot in order to avoid being shot up. i think it's a mark of a good player when they remain unfound. otherwise, you deserve it, ya?

Ok, everybody. I am a sniper and there is absolutely nothing cowardly about being a sniper. Sure we don't run around in the middle of a map firing off a whole clip getting the most kills. But, I and the rest of the skilled snipers call out enemy positions to our assault teammates. We have a very, very important role. We are the ones that have the best chance to pick off the enemy snipers that have been pinging bullet after bullet off our teammate's heads. We must take just oneshot for each kill. If we miss, we must be sure the enemies we have just alerted have not spotted us and we must remain unseen until we can get another shot off at him while still remaining unnoticed. And guess what, if he runs off, we can't go chasing him to possibly get that one kill. If we do chase him, we will most certainly be spotted and be eliminated. And all the while, we must never be seen. Also, after about 15 seconds after just one kill, we must stealthily and swiftly move to another position in order to confirm that the one kill we previously made doesn't come to get a revenge kill. If he does, we make a decision. If he is stationary and an insured second and unseen kill, we take the shot. If we miss, we must stealthily move to another position, for the enemy we missed will surely come to get the revenge of his previous death. All the while, we must remain completely unseen to insure that the only way that someone could kill us is either the kill cam if it is regular team deathmatch, or the glance he gets at us after he dies on hardcore. We also require a great deal of patience. We cannot take a shot that will perhaps be a miss. If we continually missed we would most certainly be spotted and eliminated. And as for the person who was complaining about the lucky people that kill us from behind, it is all fair gameplay. You should know, or at least you do now, not to stay in one spot or you will be spotted and perhaps killed. You must move to a new spot about 5 seconds after each kill if on normal Team deathmatch, or if on hardcore mode, about every 15 seconds after a single kill. This way, when the enemy respawns, he will be expecting you to be in the previous spot. That is the mistake most snipers make. They camp the whole game. They will be spotted and eliminated. If you move from spot to spot, no one can call you a camper or a noob. The real noob is the one that camps in one spot the whole game. He is the one that will be spotted and caught up with. Now, I do agree that moving from spot to spot is a great deal harder. You must not be spotted whilst changing positions. If you are spotted whilst changing positions, you need to be pretty damn good with a pistol. If you are spotted, you are almost certain to die. And just in case you do survive after being spotted, you must then skip the position you were moving to and find yet another. They one that spotted you will know where you are going after he dies. Ok, back to getting killed from behind, if this happens to you and you are following allthese methods, congratulate the one that got you from behind after the game. He was one that was smart enough, stealthy enough, and brave enough, to sneak up behind you, and eliminate you. When I am eliminated from an enemy that snuck behind me, I take note of who that player was and how I could have prevented him from killing me. I also take note that he is a skilled player and i congratulate him after the game. Being killed from behind is nothing that means your a bad player or that the one that killed you is cheap. It means that you just had something to improve on and that the player was skilled enough to find it. As for your mistake, find it, and try to fix it the next time. Think about how many times you have snuck up behind someone and killed them. Think about how good you felt, just remember, you are playing with humans, chances are, they felt the same way whist doing it to you, especially if you are a good sniper and all around good player. Now, as for weapons to carry around, there is no need to have overkill with a sniper set up unless you are purposely going to run around whilst sniping. Then I would recommend a silenced assault rifle. If you are not planning on running around unstealthily, taking out enemies you encounter on the way, just take a silenced M19. No not the M9. The M19. The Desert Eagle is not good for sniping. Remember a sniper needs to be stealthy. Each shot you fire with an unsilenced weapon shows you as a red dot on the enemy radar. So run with UAV Jammer and Use a silencer on every weapon you can in your sniper set up. The Desert Eagle is way too loud for stealth and it cannot be silenced. So, the M19 Silenced with UAV Jammer. For your 3rd Perk, if you like taking your time with a shot, choose the Iron Lungs. But just remember that if you use iron lungs, whenever you are in a building, stay crouched whilst moving. Crouching is the same affect as Dead Silence except you have to stay crouched. If you don't need to take a while on your shot, choose dead silence so you can run and climb anywhere without alerting your enemies of an intruder. Now, with the gameplay style I described, there is really no need for claymores unless you want to mislead an enemy into thinking you are in a building when you are in fact, in another position. If you do want to do this, just plant claymores like you were camping in the building, and simply leave. An enemy with Bomb Squad will take out the claymores, and waste his time while you can possibly line up a shot on your recently fooled enemy. If you don't plan on tricking your enemies, and you have gotten pretty good with the above method, I recommend using Bandolier because you do not want to run out of ammo where you need to be killed to get more of the same kind. If you are a beginner with the above technique, I suggest Bomb Squad to alert you of any threatening explosives in your next spot. Now, after explaining all this, anyone who reads this post will see that sniping well is very difficult and sniping should always be welcomed on your team. A sniper can alert nearby teammates of an enemy that he has spotted but doesn't want to risk taking a shot and missing. So as you can see, a sniper not only gets kills for himself, but he gets kills for his teammates by telling them where to go. If you are a new sniper or an experienced sniper, don't be discouraged by not getting the most kills or even very many kills. 5 kills is plenty for a new sniper. An experienced sniper can get around 12-25 kills in a single match with very little to no deaths. Your goal as a sniper isn't to be the top score. It is to be biggest help to your team and get very few deaths. If you are an effective sniper, you should see your kill/death ratio skyrocket. So, snipers are not noobs, they are support and defense, and they are damn important to your team so treat them with respect.

Lol one time I was in a corner sniping people and just for the laugh I put two claymores facing me. One guy came up and stabbed me but the two claymores killed him. Why don't you try that?

I enjoy taking out snipers by being another sniper or by sneaking up behind them. Most snipers are pretty good about changing locations so they aren't caught. You may want to try moving to other spots if you believe someone knows where you are.

I have also tried hardcore mode and I will say that it makes me feel extremely out of place. It kind of ruins the fun out of checking that radar frequently and I have to turn up the volume to really pay attention to where I hear people.

There's nothing I hate more than a wuss that sits and snipers all game. You know, there IS a battle out there happening, and you don't need to snipe all round every round, to me it says you can't take the heat of even simulated battle. This game is only 'Modern Warfare' in the weapons, environments and physics, so your argument is null and void twice over. That being said, I love nothing better than to stick my knife in to a girly man who has been sniping all round, over and over - serves ya right.fntsycloud

Excuse me for trying to unlock the ACOG scope and weapon camo for my M40.

You deserve to be killed if you aren't aware of your surroundings. I love placing claymores right behind a camping sniper. I also sometimes use c4 on them. Or sometimes I just sit right next to them and when they turn around I knife them.

I usually put my claymores in weird spots or put them so they walk right into them and have it far enough back so they can't see it. But I don't snipe much anymore. I like sneaking up on stupid snipers, ones who don't use claymores and don't pay attention to their radar. I throw a stun right at them blow the claymore up then go shoot them or knife them.

I don't know if you were referring to me or not but i don't do that because i don't exactly plan on dying. I mean, if you do that, you are basically saying to yourself, "I am going to die, but by hell I am taking whoever is behind me with me." Not only does it lower your expectations but if you did happen to kill the enemy behind you before he gets you, and he sets off your claymores, then who dies? You do.

[QUOTE="odin2019"]I know what you mean and yes it can be annoying. The game is like real life and then it isn't. If it was like real life you would probably be able to find like 10 or 15 different places to snipe on a map. There would be more access to higher up places and you would have upon several rooms to choose from. Bigger maps are soon to come because thats what everyone wants and its just a matter of time. My biggest complaint about Cod4 isn't people sneaking up on me but its that there is way too many groupies out there. Every game you enter almost is another group of guys who play together 24/7 and all they want to do is kill as many random people as they can.....If your going to play like that play against another group that plays all the time because as a random person I get sick of it. IW REALLY NEEDS TO DO TWO THINGS HERE AND THEY ARE SETTING UP SOMETHING THAT AFTER EVERY MATCH IT EVENS OUT THE TEAMS BASED ON KILLS/POINTS AND ONCE YOU EXIT/QUIT A GAME AND YOU GO TO SEARCH FOR ANOTHER GAME THAT GAME SHOULD NEVER COME UP AGAIN (This should be set up for every game type and should be called even play that is unless you specifically don't care who you play with or you want to play group matchs with people who play all the time). Normally I wouldn't caps but those are two very important things that should be added to the game and I think as more and more time goes people will add these things to games.hilltops
