So if PS4 releases 2013/2014 who will buy it?

I am not buying another 700 dollar console anytime soon. I dont understand why is it that early? Why not 2020? Theres good games coming out now, and suddenly PS4 comes out. Nobody likes that.

If it comes 2014 or 13, i am not buying it, i think.

I doubt I'll be getting any new console after this gen. Gaming just doesn't have the same effect on me as it used to, plus most of what little time I spend gaming is done on a PC anyway.

I doubt it, I'm planning to update my PC soon enough and I can see myself getting back into PC gaming. The PS3 has been a hell of a console but I can't see myself buying a PS4 anytime in the near future, funds and time is starting to become rather short.

I will buy it but not for £450... £350 maybe i guess and i want more RAM, no more of this god forsaken optimizing 90% of the development time just to make games look reasonable and sub-HD with massive pop in from 3 feet away... RAM is important.

Nope. I'll do what I always do: Wait for it to come out and see how it does. In the meantime I'll be finishing up my PS3 library and by the time the PS4 actually has a decent and worthwhile library of games, a slimmer cheaper version will be released. That's when I'll go and buy one. :Dmegagene

Depends on what it offers. If Sony really doesn't increase the power much, I'll become more and more an PC exclusive gamer

I learned my lesson with the PS3. This time I'll wait a year or two after release to pick one up. By then it will be cheaper, more efficient, they'll have the bugs worked out and there should be a good library of games available.

I'll buy it day 1 whenever it comes. However I do hope it takes few more years till it comes.

I'll wait a couple of years after release as I did with the ps3 for the price to go down, games to come out, and any problems to be fixed. Plus, I'm hoping the Vita will be worth it, so i also have an eye on that. Now, if a monster hunter came to the ps4, well I'd sacrifice going out to the movies/eat/store/etc... and save that money up for a ps4 and monster hunter (though, I'm excitied for a monster hunter on the vita as well, afterall, the psp ones look great for a handheld, I can't even imagine how a new one will look on the vita).

We are not due for any successor, its all rumours which Sony have already squashed. And yet gamers feel that because we are getting a new Ninty system it's about time every other console dev releases a new system as well. Going forward Sony is going to concentrate on the PSV(their new system) and of course the PS3. Sony are not going to release another console to warrant such topics as it will take away momentum from their new handheld.

Basically, Nintendo said they're system is coming out relatively soon, so Sony wasn't going to just ignore it. Instead, they released a press release just as a way to show they too will eventually have a new console. Granted, if it does get pushed back I can see most of the people saying they don't want it complain that Sony lied to them and now they have to wait. You're right in saying they don't want attention taken away from the Vita (especially after the psp sort of died off compared to the many versions of the DS). I'm looking forward to both systems, since I rather enjoy the quirky games on my psp such as patapon and the not so quirky but awesome monster hunter games, and I play my ps3 quite a bit (especially lately now that I have a backlog of 4 games, 2 of which are lengthy rpgs).

I seriously doubt that Sony would be silly enough to launch the PS4 at that price, but then again I'm no genius!! lol...Anyway I would be open to buying the PS4 if the additional functions are relative to my needs

I won't be, that's for sure. I'm a broke college student. Not to mention the first consoles released almost always have hardware problems of some kind.

I would happily welcome a new Playstation in 2013/2014. However if a new console was released next year I would still probably go out and buy it because I'm sucker for new hardware.

new sony console with great exclusives. who wouldnt buy it? ps3 has been on the market for almost 5 years. i think everyone got their money worth it...

if they can make the graphics "modern" that is, if it can power the samaritan demo at 60 fps, then i'd consider it. but i'd still need sony to sell me on it as i still have quite a few ps3 games i need to finish.

Of course I'll buy it, I love gaming and would consider myself as hardcore gamer. I hope it'll come out in 2015, not 2013 because I want developers to focus on PS3 for a bit longer so they'll bring out better games.

If it's over £500, I guess I'll wait for a bit...

2013/2014 would be fine with me. That would be the ideal time for the PS4 to come out as far as I'm concerned. All of next year left to enjoy the PS3, then the year after maybe start thinking about moving on.

No matter when would it be released i wont buy it day 1. Since most consumer electronics have problems when they are first released, i will wait for a slim or later revisions of the hardware.

I don't think I will. I didn't get a PS3 until MGS4 & GTA4 were out, & at this point I don't think there will ever be another game I'm hyped up as much for. That's not to say there won't be any great games for it, I'm just past getting that excited for new games now. Maybe I'm getting old lol. I think I'll jump to PC next gen if anything.

Though the PS3 didnt have much of a problem at launch because its hardware was perfectly suited for the games at launch. Then a system software update forced the old PS3's BD drive spin a lot faster thus increasingthe internal temperature=YLoD. While the Slim PS3's were already built upon that update.
