Well the best version is the 60 gig,but the only way to get one of those is used off of the internet.Out of the ones now just get the standard 80.Or spend 500 bucks on the 160 gig bundle. You can always upgrade your PS3 HDD if you need to for cheap anyway.K1LLR3175Hmm,80 Sounds good. Does it differ between the 160 , 80 and 60? in system or in how many slots.etc?
Well I will give you a run down of all the consoles.
PS3 consoles that have been discontiued and the only way to get one if only from Amazon/Ebay or any other online shop
Now The two PS3s that you can find everywhere
I Feel like getting the 60GB since there is many to offer, i think the 80 GB only has more space....i don't know really, im kinda torn apart now but thanks for giving me this insight as in this is what i really wanted to know.:DWell I will give you a run down of all the consoles.
PS3 consoles that have been discontiued and the only way to get one if only from Amazon/Ebay or any other online shop
- The 20 gig.The 20 gig had four USB slots full Backwards compatiblity for PS2 titles but no wifi and a card reader.
- The 60 gig.The 60 gig Ps3 was dubbed"The Best PS3 console period'It had four USB slots full BC and Wifi and the card reader
- The Original 80 gig. This console came out after the other two.It had four us,card reader and about 75% BC
- The 40 gig.The PS3 that was one of the worst in terms of stuff. It only hadtwo USB slots, only PS1 BC,No Card reader and it had wifi
Now The two PS3s that you can find everywhere
My personal opinion.Just get the 80 gig,or if you got the money bump up to the 160 gig.K1LLR3175
- The New 80 gig. This PS3 came out after the 40 gig and offers only PS1 BC,No card reader only two USB slots. But comes with a Dual shock 3.
- And the 160 gig PS3.500 bucks can score you n 160 gig PS3 with Uncharted, one of the best action adventure game on the PS3.A Dual shock 3,two USB slots, only PS1 BC.Also I believe you get a 20 dollar PSN card and pain as a free dowload game.
i would go for the 80gb but if you could find a 60gb used buy that i guess, but go for the 80gb newPOPEYE1716Well, if i could find a 60 GB then i'll buy it and no i won't buy used .....id never in my life buy any thing system related or system used. Anyways,Hopefully i'll get my hands on the 60GB if not then well i'll just buy the new 80GB.
Even if you could find a use 60 gig....well it is still used.I say get the 80 gig for a few reasons
Well i already got me a sony erricson bluetooth mic so i guess this would work on the PS3, and yeah i made my decision to get the 80GB PS3.:DEven if you could find a use 60 gig....well it is still used.I say get the 80 gig for a few reasons
So I say spend the 400 on the PS3,then another 60 to get a good PS3 title or titles of your choice. Then go out and buy a headset if you need to.I suggest for headsets go with the official PS3 wireless headset or any ol USB headset.I use this one.Good luck and enjoy your PS3.K1LLR3175
- The 80 gig is still a good deal.400 bucks for an 80 gig console and a DS3
- 80 gigs will take awhile to fill up and if you do need more space you can always
- Get a new HDD.500 gig HDD cost about 250 bucks if you ever needed to ugrade
Well cool and yes it will.If you have any question feel free to ask around. If you need some help on more PS3 titles to get look here. And one more thing I just pimped your ride....wait wrong thing.Welcome to the community.Enjoy your new PS3K1LLR3175:lol: And thanks, what a great and warm welcoming it is.

You probably could find a new 60 gig PS3 on Ebay very easy.....problem is you will be paying atleast 700-1000+for it.get the 80 GB, if you need more space later just replace the hard drive, its not that difficult, and the PS3 can recognise up to 2 TB so youve got lots of spaceDarkman2007Yeah i know but the thing is im looking at which one has the more equipment and it seems that the 60GB has more USB slots + Backward compatability + memory card reader...so it has the same qualities as the 80GB and more except the difference is ...is the space.
DON'T buy the 60GB even if you find one, for a couple of significant reasons:
1. This one is extremely important for me - only the new 80GB (that was released on August 08) & the 160GB (November) models contain the new & improved 65nm processor which, in comparison to the older 90nm chip is quieter, cooler, and consumes less power. I really don't understand how no one pointed that out already...
2. If you do find a used 60GB, it'd prolly be pricey (like, at least $400 I'm sure) since there's a high demand for this particular version because it is, or, *was*, the most well-rounded one. Personally I think it is stupid to get it just for the PS2 compatability since you can simply buy a brand new slim PS2 for less than $100 on some places (IIRC GameStop sells it in that price range), or you can just keep yours if you already have one. Nowadays a used PS2 doesn't worth very much so there's no point in selling it for $50 just so you can later buy an expensive 60GB.
There's also the YLoD issue but I won't list it as a significant reason because it isn't that common, though I would buy the 80GB anyway just to be on the safest side available.
For me only the new chip worths $100... much more reliable as most people say.

Well look no further. Buy a PS3, get MGS4 then wait for Killzone 2. THQ88Well my first two games would be, MGS4 and then its a toss up between uncharted - warhawk - resistance 2 - little big planet.

Uncharted is pretty good but you already bought a third person game(MGS4) so you might want to consider changing the type of the game specially after experiencing the masterpiece that is MGS4. Warhawk is an amazing online experience but man you're kinda late because I doubt many people are still playing it online, you never know though. Resistance 2 is frickin awesome, online. The storymode is a sequel to the first. Pretty good story too aswell but if you're more into graphics I'd wait 1 more month for Killzone 2. R2 multiplayer is the best on the system with no lag at all.

well 1st of all the 60gn is the most powerful ps3 ever made and will be the most powerful frevr.....AND ITS A MISCONCEPTION THAT THE 80 GB HAS A BETTER PROCESSOR...WHAT SONY MENTIONED IS THAT THE NEW PROCESSOR IS CHEAPER IN PRODUCTION...WAY CHEAPER!!! THE ORIGINAL 60 GB PS3 HAD A PRODUCTION COST OF 840$ ...CHECK WIKIPEDIA....AND SONY MENTIONED THAT THE 60 GB WILL POSESS THE MOST POWERFUL AND EFFICIENT PROCESSOR THAN ANY OTHER MODEL...THE DAY IT RELEASED....THE 40 GB LITREALLY SUCKZ..
AND THERE IS NOTHING CALLED A YELLOW LIGHT...IT'S SOMETHING JEALOUS XBOX FNAS CAM UP WITH...HOW DO I KNOW?? CAUSE MY PS3 IS ALMOST ON 24/7 AND IT HAS AN AUSUMN WIFI , USB PORTS...AND IT NEVER AND I MEAN NEVER HANGS!!!
BUT STILL U WILL NOT GET A UNUSED 60 GB PS3 IN THE MARKET...SONY CONFIRMED THAT ALL THE 60 GB MODELS HAD BEEN SOLD...SO EVEN IF SOMEONE SAYS THERES A UNUSED 60 GB MODEL...DNT GO FOR IT....IT HAS BEEN USED...
2005 dude.Your post is wack. And here is why
Dude , undo your caps lock , and don't double post ..
Oh ; giving correct information is always welcome -.- For instance : 40GB doesn't suck .. As long as you can play your games and blu-ray discs , there's nothing sucky to me..
EDIT : some1 was faster than me :P
:P Lol i know, i'll be getting one soon enough....im pumped...like hell.2005 dude.Your post is wack.And here is why
Dude just get your 80 gig..... K1LLR3175
- No need for caps
- NO NEED FOR CAPS.See how annoying that is
- The 40 gig may have been a bad deal but I have a 40 gig and I love it
- The proccessors really don't show that much.It is not like the 60 gigs run games better than all of the other PS3 consoles
- And the Yellow light of death does exsist.Have you not seen the videos on it happening.Once it happens all of your memory is gone and you need to get your PS3 fixed.
Not to turn this into a console war thread, but at least when the 360 craps out on you you don't lose your data...
Heavy Rain isn't coming out for a long time, Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy) was in development for as long as I can remember... But at least the company has made two great games, and I strongly believe that Heavy Rain will be their third.
You should get Time Crisis 4 for your Playstation 3 as well by the way.
