So is Far Cry 3 announced or what?

Does anyone know? I think the series has a lot of potential after FC2, though I'm not sure if it has been announced yet. Some sites said it is, some don't.

Can anyone confirm?

I don't think it's announced.

It hasn't been formally announced, but they've said they're working on it. Apparently it's looking "amazing".

^ If true all they need to do is combine what was amazing about Far Cry 1 with Far Cry 2 to make the best entry in the series. Because Far Cry 2 was really underwhelming after the initial shock of the graphics.

I coudln't stand Far Cry 2, so I'm not exactly holding my breath for a third one. That said I bet they will make one sooner or later, if not already working on it now.

I hope they confirm it at E3, I have only played 4 good FPS in the last few years and those are Borderlands, Bioshock, COD4 and Far Cry 2.

Thre's definately one in development. Apparently they're either gonna keep it in africa or it could be a differant location entirely. The arctic was mentioned if I remember right. Im sure if you go onto N4G and search for far cry 3 you'll find the few articles that were released late 2008 thats how I found them a few months ago.

There better be no false advertising again, the box clearly stated "Fully Destructable Enviroments", is was tempted to follow legal action (its illegal in canada to make false claims on packaging).

far cry 2 let me down. Go into enemy territory, kill them, wander aimlessly looking for diamonds, move to next territory, repeat.

I for one thought FC2 was lame. I'm sorry but finding 200 safe houe was dumb, the strory was lame and the side mission's were trying at best.

If it's set on a tropical island like the first one then i would be interested in far cry 3.

They're (the "FarCry" team) releasing "Crysis 2" first... then, perhaps, we'll hear about FC3. But as a fan of the first game the second one let me down so I'm just not worried about that series (FarCry) anymore.
