So I've been wondering.

What is the point with PS3 Trophies?
Do you get some kind of discount off games from PSN or something if you have a certain amount?

Or is it just for show-offs?

So you get no other benefit from them other then showing your friends how much you've been playing the game?
Not to be rude or anything but that sounds rather sad really.
" Look I have the trophy for playing this game for 56 hours straight"

Edit: Oh I see, Well it would make more sense if there was some point in them other then "bragging"

I agree I don't get the fascination with achievements and trophies...

It is basically bragging rights, that you did this and that in the game with proof of doing it.

oh I guess you could play for 56 hours and have no trophie because you know if it is a good game your going to play it anyway. So if you dont like it then ok, you dont have to get them... but your prolly going to play the good ones anyway

it's not show-offs (for some it is) it is a reward system.

I for one enjoy the trophy system, Im not sure I ever really met or spoke to anyone on PSN or LIVE who would brag about their score or number of trophies. I have however heard people talking about particular achievements and how difficult they are to get (legidimately) like for example 60 minunite defend GRAW2 or Mile high club (COD4). For me it just adds to the enjoyment of my entertainment. Id laugh at anyone willing to even hint about bragging on their gamer score.
