A new IP probarly won't come until the PS4 maybe

just like they started the Resistance IP for the PS3

the new ratchet game could be a PSN game like quest for booty.....

and for naugthy dog new game: its uncharted 2 they already confirmed that to some magazine!!!i wanna see some footage already,, cause i cant wait, i also hope it comes in 2009 XD

Resistance 3 would be pretty cool. I would definitley buy it.

I really hope that next gen consoles won't be released until 2012 or 2013 since money is quiet the problem these times.

And they'll probabbly release a new IP on the PS4 and it will be a huge sucess.

I recall I read somewhere that they were going to be focusing on an IP each year (Resistance 2006, R&C 2007, Resistance 2 2008...)

So, even when a new IP would be nice... I bet the next game by Insomniac is a sequel to R&C in 2009.

Actually, IG is not owned by Sony. They just have a long standing good relationship with Sony. There is going to be another Ratchet game for 2009 , we just don't know if it is a full game release or another smaller downloadable.

It'll most likely be this for the next few years:

2010: Resistance 3

2011: Ratchet and Clank Future 3 (the Future series is supposed to be a trilogy)

PS4 will come out around 2014 and the PS3 will continue to receive support until 2016 - similar to what they've been doing with the PS2.

2) I pretty sure they've recently started to make profits since technology costs to make the PS3 have gone down a lot. But overall since launch, they're probably still at a net loss with the PS3.

Sony wouldn't be going back on their word. They said the PS2 would have a 10 year life cycle- 5 years as their main consle and another 5 years of support after the PS3's launch. Same as the PS3, it will be supported for another 5 years after the PS4. I am 99% sure the PS4 will launch in 2011, why would Sony give Microsoft another head start? They would be absolutely insane to launch any later than 2011, unless they want to be in a distant third place again.

And they are still losing a lot of money on the PS3. Luckily the PS2 and PSP make them a lot of money, so it's not all bad.

I guess it all depends on how soon we see another Xbox. But that cycle of 5 years as the main console and 5 years as a secondary console makes no sense. That's means they'll already have a PS5 by the time they pull the plug on the PS3. :?

And with the economy the way it is right now, especially in the US, I doubt most gamers would support any new consoles coming that soon. If the economy somehow gets back on its feet by 2010 then maybe, but who knows?

If the economy is still poor by the time the next Xbox is released, then I don't think Sony would have that much pressure to make another console because the PS3 will definitely be cheaper than the next Xbox. Besides, I'm not sure how much more a new console would have to offer beyond what the PS3 can already do by the year 2011, but I doubt it will be enough to convince people to move on to a new generation of consoles.

This is all just in hypothetical situations, so anything we think might happen in the future would be an educated guess at best. We'll just have to wait and see.

Resistance 2 came out about 2 years after the first one, so we should expect resistance 3 to be out in november 2010

Agreed, Never much for Ratchet and Clank myself. Resistance is all well and good, but Imsoniac are good at pretty much every genre they've tried so far. I'd like to see them try a new one. Rpg perchance *drool*
