so wait is it X or crossline?

for the main button on ps3 (A for xbox) is it pronounced X or crossline? I know crossline sonds as cheesy as hell but some games, like uncharted 2 i believe say press the crossline button to jump. And if you think about it wouldn't crossline fit a little bit better with the shapes?
