Why is it that everyone has this misconception that a 1080p HDTV is also a requirement. There are only what, like 5 games on the PS3 that are 1080p Native! The other 95% are 720p or 720p/1080i! The thing that I think is lost on people is that the PS3 is simply incapable of upscaling resolutions. So just because you have a 1080p TV, that doesnt mean you are watching a 1080p resolution for your games. The PS3 shows the game in its native resolution or scales to the lowest one on your TV that most closely matches said game!! So, all of you that were brainwahed by "Johnny Best Buy" and spent $2500 on that 46" 1080p Bravia are not even getting a 1080p visual for your PS3 games!!! You are getting the same display that those of us who own 720p HDTV's get. Heck, CoD 4 which I think is one of the best looking games this gen runs in 640P!!!kungfuchaos
ACtually just to inform you i am one of those people that bought a tv about a year after my ps3 a nice one that gets 1080p but more for the blu ray movies than the actual games. I could care less how much better a game can actually look lots of games look good most of them play like crap
For me, there are only 2 resolutions that matter. High definition and standard definition. Whether the High Definition is 620p, 720p, 1080p 1080i etc. I dont really care. They look better all the same.
Then again, im one of those cheap people who bought a HD tv on sale for $600. Certainly not the best picture quality, but a vast improvement on what I had before.
Ok, so why do you care if other people spend their money on 1080p HD tv's??Leon7J7
Took the words right out of my mouth. Why worry so much about what others are doing?
Ok, so why do you care if other people spend their money on 1080p HD tv's??Leon7J7I actually dont care, but I think its hilarious that these guys on here are always like "yeah man, I bought this sweet 52" Sony XBR and man, CoD 4 and Uncharted look AMAAAAAaaazing"!!! When in reality, those two games look just as good on a 720p for half the money!!! 1080p for BluRay watching sure! Gaming wise, 1080p as a standard native resolution several years away!!! By then, 1080p sets will be about $1200 for a 52" XBR that you paide $3000 for!!

actually i beg to differ on this point right here no matter the resolution it does look better on a different tv. I had a 44in hat only went to 1080i but its contrast ratio was like 500:1 my new tv is 25000:1 the colors look so much cleaner and brighter due to that. So you can talk all you want but i promise you no matter the resolution debate it does look better with that higher ratio and such. and when 1080p sets are 1200 sure it wont matter and i paid only about 1500 for mine since i sold my other tv for about 1000 and put it towards my new one but that far later no one will care about these sets with that OLED technology coming down in the next 5 or so years
Well your clan link looks promising but i'd like to know such a groups policy on ppl who work...have kids etc
But on another note this should refuse your prediction because this is less than your quoted price. I have a 1080I Samsung 32in TV and i love it but recently TV talk has my attention....upgrade??? Look at this
