its not on the PS3, what can i do... if it becomes available, why would i restrain myself from getting it... ? but in its absence, i might give Hawx a shot...I love Ace Combat and I have played the living daylights out of that series. It was a huge disappointment that it didnt make it on the PS3 and I was excited about HAWX for a while. Now that I have played the demo I can see some of the good bits but the whole 2 miles away 3rd person mode I found a little gimmicky and inaccurate. Hopefully AC7 will show up on the PS3.
You can play the entire game (outside of that training mission in the demo) without ever using that view if you'd like. My biggest complaint is that the campaign for HAWX is pretty short.I love Ace Combat and I have played the living daylights out of that series. There were a couple intense missions in the campaign that kept me on my toes, and I the story wasn't half bad at all to me. If you're a fan of AC, I'd recommend HAWX. If you don't plan on fightin it out online, you might want to wait for the price to drop once though as the campaign isn't all that long. Fun, but short.[QUOTE="mohmaaytah"]You can play the entire game (outside of that training mission in the demo) without ever using that view if you'd like. When taking off the assistance they should have an option to change the camera view because the one they have is a pain.I love Ace Combat and I have played the living daylights out of that series. When I first played through the demo, it felt strange to me as well, but I find the more time I spend using it, the easier its becoming. It is not about rejecting change, the mode has the advantage of evading missiles better but overall as a control scheme it could been implemented a little better. I would have preferred it if it were possible to suddenly slow down during a dogfight, get the bearings of your enemy and shoot them down. I have played the demo quite extensively and the mode did not seem very intuitive.

I was just curious if you took the time to try to adjust to it or just rejected it right off the bat. Didnt mean to insinuate anything. Concerning suddenly slowing down during a dogfight, there a variety of aerial maneuvers designed to perform just that, but none them involve just slamming on the brakes. The simplest is slam on the brakes and nose up until you have gone 90 degrees, then slam the nose back down. You should gain some altitude but drop a ton of speed making anyone tailing you closely overshoot and giving you the drop on them when you bring the nose back down. It is known as Pugachev's Cobra. You can see more info on it here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pugachev%27s_Cobra

I tip my hat to you, I have just learned something new about air maneuvers and will be testing it out extensively in HAWX and AC4. Some of them I have used previously in AC4 but never knew they were actual usable maneuvers!
Cheers for that.

Get a used XBox 360 and enjoy the game.[QUOTE="The_Rick_14"]Fair enough man. I was just curious if you took the time to try to adjust to it or just rejected it right off the bat. Let's just say I watch "Dogfights" on the History Channel a little too often. It's a show where they simulate some of the most historic air combat engagements in history. And they go back to show them through kind of the post mission style of AC games with the colored arrows to show you how the manuever set up the pilot beautifully. For instance if you're turning with a guy but can't quite get a lock, its possible to perform a roll in a manner that has you gain altitude and lose a little speed and move away from your target, but swing your angle of attack around so that when you dive and increase speed you'll end up right on his tail and if done right so quickly that he'll most likely lose you until you're on top of him if he's inexperienced.Well I bought HAWX, and love it. I use to be a Ace Combat fan since the first on on the Playstation. But since they sold us out. Im done with it. If you haven't given HAWX a try, then your missing out on good gameplay, great visuals and sound, and overall fun. Just my take.
i won't drop the Ace Combat series.. although Namco is officially my least favorite dev this gen for not giving us Beautiful Katamari and AC6... Hawx will most likely be ruined by some stupid patriotic bull crap story that Tom Clancy is "famous" for...because ac6 was exclusive for 360, and we got this brand new hawx, just a question will you drop ace combat series?
