I been playing violent games since i was 11, started playing games like gta 3 at the age of only 12 .... been watching all kinds of horror/ violent movies even younger yet i turned out great. It all depends on the person really. In a world full of ****ed up **** video games are nothing compared to it. ****ed up **** like scat porn, hentai rape child molestation, murders, ppl killing cutting ppls heads of, ppl chopping of there nutsacks on the internet to see, ppl commiting suicides, wars, rough neigbourhoods where ppl kids get shot every mminute, gangs, random street killings, serial killers, fathers cutting sons eyes out, the list just goes on and on.

WorldOfHurt

I'm a supporter of freedom from adult censorship, but just the fact that you are aware of the existence of that sort of stuff indicates society is failing to put adequate barriers in place for minors. I don't blame the games/video makers, but there is something wrong with adults who allow young people to get hold of this stuff.

Games are turning very violent. The worst thing I had to do when I started playing video games to kill the enemy was to jump on its head. Now its alot more graphic and violent. Thats not to blame the makers. Alot of people expected gamers to just grow older and stop playing, but instead we've just got older gamers that want more adult content.

Well most video games That are voilant have a M RATING! if parents would pay attention to wat they are getting for there kids then they would see that its not the game. If you are 18 and think that you can do half the s#!+ you can do in a video game then you shouldnt be playing it

PSPplayer988
That's the problem. A lot of parents don't pay attention to the ratings or just don't give a damn. I was in Gamestop one day and watched a mama buy Kayne and Lynch and hand it to here little son. That kid couldn't have been no older than 7 or 8. He was so excited, too. I wonder how long that lasted after he got it home and she heard all the f-bombs dropping in the living room.

I think parents need to stop coddling their kids as much as they do. It is a joke. Some video games are too violent? Well OF COURSE THEY ARE! They are video games after all and not real life. I love going around tearing peoples arms off and popping them in the face with a sawed off shotgun, blood and brains splattering on the wall. Would I do that in real life? Hell no

The problem is not with video games being too violent, it lays within the fact that some kids are simply headcases.

Games aren't solely for Kids anymore, Parents and media ought to realize it rather then try to prevent it. With that said, there are age restrictions on games and they're there for a reason.

I think alot of parents make the same error they do with most cartoons when it comes to games. They view it as something for children only. Now a days we have the internet and esrb rating system among other things to help them make an informed purchase. Alot of us on this forum can still access alot of the old games we used to play during the nintendo and sega games so there's no reason these parents can't do the same for their children. There's no reason they should make the mistake of buying things like GTA for their children. It's clearly labeled in the title. Are game violent? yes but they are also more mature for older school gamers like myself. Games in general are not just children's toy's but interactive entertainment for all the ages. Just like cartoons and regular programming.

Ladies and Gentlemen, there is your answer right there, compliments of Mcortijo01. Parents now a days are rarely involved with their kids!

Personally, I don't think games are violent enough. I want a man hunt for ps3 type of game.

Parents AREN'T involved in their kids lives at all! They see video game systems, movies and stuff as babysitters for their children

I agree that as a parent and being a gamer its the responsibilty of the parent to be more involved. There are some very violent games on the market and they have ratings for a reason. i remember when I was in HS i worked at an EB Games store and I would be shocked at the games parents would buy their kids.Back then very few people paid attention to the ratings but a parent can easily read the back of the box and tell if there is going to be too much violence.

Parents need to do the parenting.

It's nice to monitor what your kids watch and play, but if you have to do it so strictly, then you're already relying on the media to teach your kids and you fail as a parent.

Parents rely too heavily on the TV to raise their children. If that wasn't the case, we wouldn't have to worry about they watch and America wouldn't be gradually getting stupider.

Man, I couldn't agree more with that. All the parents are worried about what CNN and "professional" moms say about raising kids and don't bother to listen to their own instinct.

Yep. I couldn't have said it better myself.

But on a side note, I remember a while back there was a study on behaviour related to video games. They had a group of kids play a FPS or something and a racing game. The result was that the racing game made them more agressive than the shooter... Parents shouldn't be trying to ban GTA's, it's games like Burnout they need to be worried about! :P

ya no, i'm 14 and i play grand theft auto and madworld and i'm not even close to violent. if my friends hit, i don't even hit back. games do not make people violent, the environment they grow up in does.
