Sony & Metal Gear franchise! (It's about time)

Regardless I don't think it would necessarily be a great idea for Sony to buy rights for Metal Gear, for the sole fact that Hideo Kojima said MGS4 would be his last game for the franchise, but I have been hearing rumors there is a MGS5 script being written and considering of being involved if he likes the ideas the staff is coming up with. To be quite honest, I hope Konami retires the franchise. Let Snake rest in peace, and let the characters and the vast community and locations Kojima invisioned alone.

I don't want to see another Metal Gear game to be honest. I am satisified with MGS4.

Exactly what I'm talking about. Why let games like Metal Gear and Final Fantasy go to their consoles when we don't get their Halos and Gears? Don't tell me they're first parties because I told you that IMO Metal Gear and Final Fantasy are PLAYSTATION and Halo and Gears are Xbox! That equation should be equal.We lost the exclusivity of one of them. We got nothing in return from either Halo or Gears. Sony needs to buy the exclusivity and play dirty like Microsoft is doing.

Heres the thing about what you just said, Halo and Gears were published by Microsoft Game Studios and developed by a third party. Microsoft paid for those games. Thats why they won't come to PS3. Final Fantasy and MGS respectively are Square and Konami by themselves, Sony didn't do jack for them so it does not matter if they go to another platform. Your asking Microsoft to give up games they funded while asking Sony to tell other companies they can't give another console games that Sony didn't do anything for. Your crossing the line from logical argument about exclusives too ridiculous fanboy ranting with the above qoute.

I'm asking Sony to do what Microsoft did. Play dirty.

hmm maybe. Me and him share the same exact knowledge. I know him personally and we keep discussing the storyline together. He's like my best friend and my best Metal Gear buddy. We go to university together and we met thanks to his codec ringtone on his phone and alert beep as his message tone.

Honestly its not worth SONY's effort to get M$ to let go of halo and gears.

1. Gears, 4 on 4 wooooo.. Got old fast.

2. The first halo was good because it was something different, 2 and 3 same old same old although I'll admit the replay feature in 3 was pretty cool.

3. It keeps the kids on the 360 and off PSN

I bought a 360 at launch then bought an elite (wanted HDMI) bought my PS3 because the elite died a quick death and the refurb I got well I didnt pay $500 for a refurb. I could care less about games on the 360 because my PS3 is hands down better. Better graphically, smoother gameplay, doesn't freeze, controller lasts longer, accessories are cheaper, hasnt given me the evil red eye. As far as FF going to 360, as long as I get to play it on my PS3 I could care less because I know its gonna look better through my PS3. Go right ahead and get you a 360 and dont forget to fork over the extra money for a warranty you will need it.

Look at it realistically, sure we lost exclusives to MS, but how does this affect YOU??

sorry but i don't share your sentiment TC. All of the games that went to MS, are still coming out for the ps3. some games which were originally for ps3 are now also on 360, and visa versa. Looks to me like devs just want to make profits on both sides. and the more profits they make the more product they would be inclined to release into the public. Sorry i just don't see what i personaly lost with games like ff13, dmc4, and gta4 (these being the biggest titles) coming to the 360.

With that said, sony has always managed their company poorly in terms of pruduct release. This is exactly the same thing that happened to beta and vhs. Beta was the superior of the 2, even though it came out prior; vhs, and the other hand was much cheaper to make. sony said screw vhs, we'll give our customers a quality product. So sony went on to to give the vhs idea to the whole market, and competing firms began to mass produce them. people compared the beta and vhs, and basically said "i can't tell the difference." sony lost out. I don't know if you knew this story, but within the meaning of this story lies something similar to what you're frustrated about: giving things away without a fight, mostly due to the confidence (or over confidence) in their own product (i.e. for our discussion, 1st party titles.) and that in the end could be Sony's undoing........ but i still think we'll be ok. fact is, MS is just better in at pulling the trigger on various deals, and thir shot is often right on the mark; too bad about that hardware though, they couldn't have seen that one coming :roll:

that's my general feeling, but when microsoft pays to make something a timed exclusive so we have to wait longer it's pretty irritating. it seems like being a gamer is 90% waiting.
