[QUOTE="zhuojloh"][QUOTE="deadkingdg"]People are not buying a PS3 mainly because the game they want isn't out yet. That's the biggest reason. Wait for huge sellers such as Final Fantasy or Metal Gears and they'll sell very well. There isn't a lack of interest, the PS3 is the second best selling console ever. In January, with only a single great game out, it sold just barely less consoles than the X360 with all its games.

The Wii is outselling it, but Nintendo is always strong at launch, because they come out with great launch titles. Their problem is that they slow down after and the great games are scarce after a few years.

It's just like a car race. Small cars have better a start than big cars, but it the long run, the big car will beat the small car for sure. And a game isn't won by who is in first at the first half of the first lap. This means that whoever is first, it doesn't mean anything, since the majority of people who will buy a next gen console still haven't do it. The big market is still out there, and games coming out in 2007 and 2008 will determinate who gets those customers.

Nope, Wii outsold because it's dirt cheap. People are still buying PS3 whether u like it or not, just not as much as Wii.

No, Wii outsold the PS3 because it has good games, and just plain fun as well. Stop trying to put down the Wii's success. But your right the price is a selling point too(not exactly dirt cheap) but there's more to it than just that

No Wii outsold Sony cause it's dirt cheap. Thats partly why I bought one, having never played GameCube games I thought I could hit two birds with one stone. Wii doesn't have too many good games either, I own 2 games for Wii Red Steel and Zelda thats it. half the games for Wii are lame. Like I'm gonna spend money on Metal Slug again, or some collection of minigames that look like they were drawn by my niece. I bought more GameCube games than I did Wii games. If Wii cost 600 it would have sold even less than PS3 garanteed. It's a bargain bin console good for new comers and adults trying to shut their kid up without breaking the bank. divide the amount of Wii's sold and match it with the amount of money spent by consumers on PS3 and it evens out. For every one PS3 sold you can buy two Wiis, thats the real reason Wii sold more.

for the love of god, are you really that stupid? yeah the wii is just a cheap system that doesn't do anything new at all. how about the fact that it's innovative and it's a system that a whole family can play, let alone allowing people who had no interest in getting a game system to get involved. and the fact that you're actually saying "if the wii cost 600..." shows your serious lack of an IQ. it's not going to cost $600 because guess what, nintendo was smart enough to make a cheaper system that everyone could afford and even decided to not shove as much as a DVD player down consumers throats. if there is one thing i could ever ask from any fanboy at all, is please quit being so freaking idiotic. i actually read some of these posts feeling dumber afterwards that someones obsession with a product is making them to not stop for a minute and think. half the games on the wii are lame? that's a hell of a lot better than what, the 75% the suck on the PS3, no? but that doesn't matter, since bottom line that's all about personal opinion. there's a lot of people out there happy with the wii's selection - warioware, zelda, excite truck, madden - you name it people are buying them. same is somewhat true with the PS3, i just don't find enough people that enthused about it. and don't even bring up how the money between the two evens out. that's just stupid. you're not proving anything because for one, sony loses money on every PS3 they sell where nintendo is making a profit which throws your whole retarded argument right out the door. and not to mention more importantly, the wii outselling the PS3 in a 2 to 1 ratio means exactly that, there are more wii's in more households in the world than there are PS3's. it's as simple as that. look, i know a lot of you are frusterated and i don't blame you. you spent $600 on a system that has yet to prove itself, and half of you are defending your investment more on these forums than you are actually enjoying your purchase. believe it or not, i understand that and i expect future games to change all that so some of you can actually be happy for a change. but in reality, defending idiotic claims such as this is only adding fuel to the fire. just learn to live and relax about it. sony is getting a lot of dirt kicked in their faces right now and it's better to question why and think for yourself than continue to sound like nothing more than one of their toy soldiers.

Wow relax there Cowboy you need to go to the grocery store and buy some more potatoes. Get some cabbages while your at it. I happen to own a Wii, because I happen to have some spare change left over from laundry. LOL No seriously I never said the Wii sucked so keep your pants on. I said there aren't any great games on Wii, contrary to what most Wii fanboys under the age of 13 would like to believe. Elebits and WarioWare and MetalSlug Anthology don't account as OMG great AAA titles. There are two games worth buying on Wii Zelda and wait...hold on....never mind. People bought Wiis cause it was cheap and a novelty if you think the Wii's gonna hold up for 10 years with its outdated GPU your in serious need of potatoes and cabbages. Peace. God Loves you.

The Wii has some great titles on it for us old school gamers but for the most part it's target at an audience with notrious for limited attention spans.  It's priced for anybody to pick up, and everybody did.  It's left to be determined how many will continue to play it and historically Nintendo's library thins and grows weak as the console cycle moves forward.

Sigh, lets see how many people who actually care what system sells work actually are making money of each system that is sold? Raise of Hands? I don't understand why so many people actually care about the numbers when it has no real effect on them.

Every few days there is numbers about this system and numbers abbout that system. Do people need to feel good about what system they have by how many systems actually sold? It just doesn't make any sense to me. Everyone is jumping on Sony about their slow sales when Sony has even been world wirde. Of course the 360 should outsell them. If they didn't there would be a problem. Of course the Wii will outsell the PS3 and if it didn't there woulf be another problem. If people want to go ahead and declar a winner on a non issue race then lets give it 2 360. I mean they were the first ones out the gate right(wait a minute didn't the Dreamcast come out before the PS2?? Hmmm!)? But, if you want to look at numbers the 360 has been outsold by the old ps2, so if people want ot go by numbers the 360 lost before they even started(wait a minute that can't be right can it?).

Anyway, all these don't really mean anything at the moment since all three compaines are at different stages at the moment.  The 360 had the headstart and they should be ahead. The PS3 will be fine in time just like its microsofts counterpart. Relax and screw the numbers when we are the winning making the numbers go up.

[QUOTE="glitch2424"]The Wii outsolde the PS3 in a two to one ratio, eh? Well, that's logical, cause the PS3 is twice as much as the Wii. So, if you take the systems' value into consideration, the PS3 is selling as much as the Wii. :wink:Shadow338

rolf nice try, whatever helps you sleep at night. You people are just as bad as Sony, denying the fact that it didn't sell as good as expected. I could understand if you're saying that the PS3 is making as  much of a profit as a Wii(sure in hell not).

As much as I like PlayStation, I really wasn't impressed. The people at Sony are the ones making their product look bad "rumble is last-gen" lmao. I also see a bunch 360s on the shelves so does that mean there's a lack of interest in 360s. I also see a lot of Ipods on the shelves, so maybe Ipod interest is in decline. pimperjones

There is a difference my friend.  Most people who were dying to have an x360 already have it.  From here on out xboxs should sell at a slower rate than the other consoles.  Its just common sense.  PS3 on the other hand is having a HORRIBLE time breaking the 2 million mark.   There are many people who dont have a PS3 yet, but they are still not buying them.  Thats why you cant compare the two.  For one, most fans have it already...for the other, most people dont seem to want it.

I think the main point that some people don't want to hear is that the ps3 has a price point that many won't or cannot afford to pay and thus those consumers will look somewhere else. When people see the ps3 some are surprised because you can't find a wii, you couldn't find the 360 until after April so this leads people to jump to their own conclusions. I believe that the ps3 will not take off in mass until a big price cut. It will sell but it will not be on par with the other 2 consoles this year. Hopefully Sony will drop the price below $399 and $499 so that sales will begin to really take off. This will be the year for Nintendo and you will see  MS hit it 15M customers by the end of the year. However, I truly believe that until Nintendo gets some really interesting games it will fall off by the middle of next year and it will all come down to Ms system and Sony moving forward over the next few years.

PS3 sold exactly the same as 360 did when it launched...this part of the year was JUST as boring as it was last year (ironically oblivion will once again save the day lol)

This is why everyone trashes sony-they just come off as way out of touch the fact is-PS3s SHOULD be selling faster than the are-of course 360s are gonna be on shelves...theyve already sold over 10Million....PS3s on the other hand are struggling to break to the 2Million mark as the other guy put it. The fact is Sony really shot themselves-I love them I want a PS3, but they are acting like Nintendo during the period between SNES-N64...arrogant...and look what happened to Nintendo (the old Nintendo of Japan president was an arrogant prick towards the end of his tenure...he was the one who ran of Square and decided CDs were unnecessary and too slow) they fell from the top...big time. Sony to me seems to be behaving alot like Nintendo did except cramming EVERY SINGLE FEATURE IMAGINABLE in there. and then charging a REALLY high price...$400 already made heads turns...so $600??? great move... im not anti Sony-im just anti arrogance

Hell one of their interviews they stated that they dont need to release any games that they would fly off the shelves simply cause they are called PlayStation...sounds to me like they are getting to comfy with their position....and now that its threatened...they are in a state of denial....either way...I hope they get their act together...and im switching from 360 to PS3 when PS3 drops. I have a warranty and the store is screwing me so im returning the 360 and am gonna pay the extra for a ps3...but first the difference needs to shrink a little...(360 is busted.)

To summarize: Sony screwed up, they wont admit it; Nintendo pulled something off well for once and its working; and MS's lead is actually helping them abit since they seem to get more and more 'PS3 exclusives'. all we can do is hope Sony gets their act together.

Now that March is finally here,  the sales should get much stronger. If MotorStorm can't sell systems here in the U.S., then Sony will need to release MGS4 and DMC4 this fall to combat Halo 3 and ME, or they will not get back into the race until 08. They really need to put pressure on developers to push out bigger system selling games.  A major problem is Japan, I still think losing DQ may keep the Wii ahead.

[QUOTE="rasstarman"][QUOTE="zhuojloh"]of course that's no lack of interest, they sold 240k unit in January, that's a good number.

Bash it whatever u want, but that's still good number.

zhuojloh
It was outsold by the xbox 360 which is a year old and Wii

WELCOME BACK RASTARRMAN, care for another round of flaming.. Let's go!! Round one: SO?? You combine PS2 and PS3 , it's X2 what xbox 360 have. They're getting good number for all consoles. What's ur point.

so you are saying... that 2 consoles together are selling better than one console alone is selling? ummmm....ok... sure, that is totally a "good arguement" *rolls eyes*

I also see a bunch 360s on the shelves so does that mean there's a lack of interest in 360s. I also see a lot of Ipods on the shelves, so maybe Ipod interest is in decline. pimperjones

i think its good there keeping up the supply it means no greedy s.o.b's on ebay wanting £1000+ for one like the 360 launch or £450+ for the wii launch which funny enough is still more than the ps3

but maybe if it was to be true it would be due to the werid confusing silly adverts that make you wonder what was that i just saw and what does it have to do with a ps3 ?

What a stupid article.  It was a good answer.  PS3's are selling more than the 360 did when they first came out.  Of Course Wiis are haerder to find/ look how freakin cheap they are.  That guy from insomniac was 100 right when he said the wiis selling was just a trend. Ive had a bunch of friends who bought the wii and are bored with it already. The gimmick wears off but its really cheap for a second console. Thats what nintendo intended it to do.

I like what the Insomniac guy said. "PS2 is selling better than 360 (I know even more than PS2 at a greater margin), but once those people enjoy their PS2's and down the road they start to look for a next-gen system they will remember the games they enjoyed on the PS2 and will buy a PS3 for that reason and by then the price will have dropped significantly as well." It's true and makes sense.

[QUOTE="Shadow338"]

[QUOTE="glitch2424"]The Wii outsolde the PS3 in a two to one ratio, eh? Well, that's logical, cause the PS3 is twice as much as the Wii. So, if you take the systems' value into consideration, the PS3 is selling as much as the Wii. :wink:Psythce

rolf nice try, whatever helps you sleep at night.

Flame me all you want, Nintendo has been dogged out for years now, doubt most of you were sticking up for them(like I know you wouldn't). So don't cry fanboys the PS3's potential will really shine soon....hopfully anyway

Wow , Just wow , But yet , The PS3 is selling better within its time frame , than the xbox 360 within the same time frame , of yeah what was that? Xbox 360 had a shortage when it was released? But wait Sony has a mor expensive more Advanced Console and yet they pumped them out to stores so fast that now they sit on shelves? It's Called Consumer Demand , and SONY my friend , put Microsoft to the bleeders when it comes to Pumping out enough systems for there Customers.

Spinning the numbers to make it look good in your favor is really getting sad.

1. The 360 SOLD OUT (NA we're talking about)

2. The weren't getting enough shipments for months..hence it stayed SOLD OUT

3. PS3 had enough supply but not nearly enough demand....hence lots of PS3's on the shelf

Don't even try to say there was a huge demand for the PS3. The fact that there are 100 million plus PS2 fans that were just waiting for the PS3 and yet didn't buy one. Why is that? Don't say games because a TRUE fan would purchase the system regarless of how many games are out.

"next-gen hasn't started for all" 400$ IS a high price tag for most, 600$ is even higher that's why the Wii is dominating the market, it seems to be next-gen (for the average person anyway) and it's under 300$ Both the 360 and ps3 are made for HDTVs and not everyone has them yet I think that next-gen realy starts at this years holydays, everything before that is just a warm up
