Think of it from a Business perspective....
"Okay let's make them download only by giving them a harddrive... blah blah blah but at $250 plus taxes."
Any Smart consumer would see that the price is only 50 bucks cheaper than a Playstation 3 and 70 dollars more than a regular PSP.
What would any Smart consumer do you ask?
Well, if they don't own a PS3 yet, they would get that instead then Sony will say "Got another one! Bluray FTW"
If they choose to save money and go for the 3000 then Sony will say "YES got another one! UMD FTW"
I think that the pricing structure for the GO! was designed to SHOCK the costumers so they give in to other Sony temptations. Bluray and UMD would def benefit Sony in the long run because of royalties and returns from R&D.
Sony wants people to stick with UMD and Bluray. Digi would hurt their businesses because they won't make extra cash selling you their optical formats.
I mean, I know people laugh at Sony and their choices sometimes but it's like, they are a MultiBillion dollar Company.... Clearly they must have a clever motive in their master plan. Think about early 07 when people were complaining about the PS3's Bluray. Now look where Bluray is in the market after 2 years. UMD will always be around because Sony is pushing us towards it with the Go! prices.
Anyone else agree? =)
