NGP for$250?!Even though it's probably just a rumor, imagine if so? I don't care about 3G so the NGP for just 250 dollars is enough to consider pre-ordering it (if the launch games are any good I mean).

$250 for NGP would be excellent (Thats what the 3DS is) but I just cannot see it happening.

Slightly believable. The source likely does have ties to Sony Playstation insider news.

The people that think the NGP will be a ludidicarous price or not affordable really do not about the fact that companies such as Apple mark up he prices of their iOS prices and that Sony can take happily take price cuts because games are what will lift their units.

I do not doubt the NGP will be $250 but, the incoming 3DS price cut (after a cheap NGP price) might be a concern. Hopefully, the NGP will already have people totally hooked by that time. On the 3G model being $350, Sony might as well go that way. 3G chips and network talks might not be worth $100 USD per unit but, Sony likely want to tax that to make up for such a low priced base NGP price and as well to cash in.

There is definitelya scenario where the NGP could be $250 at launch. Definitely.

You don't know what 3G is? Its basically a cell phone network thats almost EVERYWHERE and has really high speed connections. Most devices today are compatible with it now so if you have a smartphone that has a data plan, you can take out the sim card and put it in your other devices(iPads, Kindles, Netbooks, Tablet PCs) or you can just get a data plan with a sim card just to use on any device you want.

If NGP would cost 250$, it is a no-brainer buying it for me. I'd get it day one ( i hope there will be different launch bundles, i never cared much for Uncharted)

^This. Also this might be the first time i buy console protection, the NGP looks way to fragile.

Well ya $250 is the sweet spot for a hand held like this and I bet they'll put the 3g model like $50 more than the $250 model if they are doing that. =)

My thoughts exactly. I suppose it's up to Sony really, I'm pretty much 100% certain that at $250 they'd be making a loss on each console, so they have to decide if they want to make a loss and be more competitive, or to release at a higher price point, say maybe $300 and hope for the best.

Let me correct you 3G is a cell phone network that is everywhere and is dog slow. there is very high latency (usually 200MS+) and thats while sitting still. in a moving vehicle it can get to 1000+ easily. also there is a speed issue. i have never gotten more than 0.99Mbps on my phone while connected to 3G although it had an MS of 147 i was standing still when i took it. IMHO 3G is good for downloading updates and web surfing but playing a game online it would be to unreliable.

$350 USD being the price point for the 3G model, Sony would definitly make a significantly larger profit. Even at $250 for the wifi model, the technology within the NGP would cost about $200-300 USD so, sony would not be loosing much or could even be making a small profit at $250 USD (not counting labor). By the time the NGP enters into Q2 2012, than the parts and labor will certainly shrink and Sony could make a profit from then on out.
