Sony promises PlayStation announcement on March 31

Sony has promised several gaming websites, including Kotaku, that a PlayStation-related announcement will be coming on Tuesday, March 31.

i wonder whats ganna be !! i think its will be update version 2.70 maybe? with cool Features

Yeah It will probably be something about the new update...although I would prefer getting the name of the New Team Ico game.

I'd enjoy a new update. Not really sure what it should contain, so I will let Sony surprise me on that one.

I hope it's not a price drop.... I bought my PS3 on February 27th and that would be just a couple days past Best Buy's 30 day price adjustment period.

well seeing how my launch 60 gig died and I got a new 80gig and noticed that the os is ran from the harddrive now instead of the internal ram like my 60gig I would say software BC? or Price drophiryu3

I hope it's a price cut honestly, cause I just bought a fraking PS2 again so I could play my PS2 games...

If it's a BC update (Although I've been told it's not possible via Software...) I'm going to have a major spaz attack. And probably not buy another Sony product for a few years. Besides if the PS3 got another price cut then 2009 is for sure going to a big year for the PS3. I mean with Godof War III and all the other PS3 exclusives people are getting itchy to buy the PS3. There's a good chance the PS3 may out sell the Xbox 360 and it's high time too.Honeslty I'm glad I saved up for a PS3 over an Xbox 360. The Bluray and free Online makes it totallyworth it. Especially now cause Xbox 360 users are starting to see the hole Live is burning in their pockets after a few years.

I dunno this announcement is probably about something totally different though.

Crossing my fingers for Kingdom Hearts 3 information.

Sony would be smart to just drop the PS2 price to $79.99, or do a "free PS2 with PS3 purchase" or something, if they're not willing to put BC back in or mark down the PS3.

I honestly don't see the big deal. We don't even know what it is. So best not to hype "nothing" like the kids usually do

I think it will be an announcement of a price cut for both the ps2 and ps3. Especially because rumours have been saying ps3 and others just stating a 'Sony' announcement, which could mean both consoles.

I hope it is a FW update though, and I also think there is a good chance of this being an April fools joke.

I'm guessing PS2 price drop. That's confirmed in some K-Mart ad. I wonder if it will mean a PS3 also? Hoping is more like it... My other guess is FW 2.7.Chaos_Bladez

they just gonna give a brief speech about how they're trying to help ppl on this recession by cutting the price of the PS2.

IMO they just keep making it easy for kiddos to get their sticky hands on PS3's and then complaint about how they get owned/abused while playing online...they just might as well get rid of the Terms of use of the PSN accounts and lower the age limit from 18 to 10.
