Sony "New" Mascot

Ok, people say lots of times Sony doesn't have a Mascot per se......before it was Crash in the early PSX days.  I'd Say Kratos is the "mascot" of the Playstation brand......Agree?  Any other ideas as to who this might be.  Nintendo = Mario, Xbox = Halo, PS = Kratos.  I put "new" in quotations because I think that just recently he has become the biggest thing on the PS brand.

I know the 1st KILLZONE was *ok* (I sure as hell loved it though) The Helghast are the best badguys ever next to Soviets and Nazis. They just look too darn cool.

Lol, that's because Hugo Boss produced the uniforms for the SS troops, true story :P

Oh, and yeh, PS has soooo many good icons but no massive ones like Master Chief or Nintendo so it's hard to pick one out.  They're all pretty awesome.  I'd say Snake is my favourite

I think it should be Kratos .. who says they should appeal to kids? We are talking about Sony not Nintendo here and banging chicks for experience.. priceless.

no Gex was a gecko that could go into the tv and to different channels.. man i loved that game :D 

Sony is best not to have a mascot.  I dont know if you guys remember polygon man with the original PS but that was funny.  Nintendos mascots work because they are timeless.  They dont have intricate connected stories so they will never age out.  As long as Nintendo makes platformers there will be a Mario, as long as theres a puzzle solving action adventure there will be Link.  I doubt MS will ever quit milking Halo so they will always have Master Chief (im not sure if thats a good thing).

Sony on the other hand doesnt really need one.  Snake is #1 bad ass hands down, but he is not owned by Sony and on top of that he will die in MGS4.  Kratos like other posters said is too violent to be a mascot, and just like snake I dont see his story going on to much longer.  Ratchet and Clank would be the most ideal choice, but realistically im glad Sony hasnt tied themselves down with an image.

if your going to pick a mascot it should be a character that has been on PS since PS1, mario hs been on nintendo since day 1 and halo on xbox as well. GOd of war has not only 2 and one day 3 so i feel it should be someoen that has been since the begginging IMO

Haha, I remember Gex. He was great, but he was on the Gameboy remember, so he wasnt exclusive to Sony, but still a great guy none the less. I swear I've heard his voice in a load of other places. Its time he had a new game, maybe on the psp. As far as a mascot goes, I would agree with Ratchet and Clank.

The only two characters that can really be considered a PS mascot would be someone who has been on the Ps/PS2/PS3 systems

 Either Heihachi or his son Kazuya would fit the bill. Kratos has only been on the PS2 system.

The problem with a mascot is that the PS brand doesnt revolve around 1 guy like Nintendo and MS.   Back in the Ps1 days yeh sure it was Crash beacause ther wasnt alot more great mascots to choose from. But now thers way too many to actually chose 1, and Sony doesnt relly on 1 game to represent it.

God of War 3

The storyline, kill the PS mascot and become the new one, my blades will be changed to ps3's and i will be shown on hdtv so i gotta put on more bird crap makeup to look as white as posible, blu-ray....... If only my head was a HDTV i would have distracted the mascot and then slice him in half.

I never even played God of War and I know Kratos is the mascot for Sony.  

All come on man yeah sure Kratos, but the Ratchet and Clank series has become huge. I mean if you got a mascot it has to be seen on everything console and handheld the way Nintendo has done with Mario, Ratchet has done with Sony.  They have already made four games for PS2 which all did equally well, a game on the PSP and a game due out this November for the PS3. Lets be honest God of War is a great series but targets an older audience which kids can't play, well most of them.  Ratchet and Clank hits all age groups and can master the title Mascot the way Crash did before.
