I will only buy a Kingdom Hearts collection if it includes the Final Mix versions of one and two.

I want to see...

Kingdom Hearts Collection

Ratchet & Clank Collection

Jak & Daxter Collection

Ico Collection (though that has already been unveiled, correct?)

I think those four have a realistic chance of coming in the form of an upgraded collection. I'd also really love to see a Xenosaga Collection as well, but I think that's going to stay a pipedream.

Some people may like this idea and all, and particularly how these HD collections also come with trophies (namely, my brother). Personally though, it reeks of double-dipping users who probably already have the game on its original disc. Even moreso now that you can't buy a BC capable PS3 anymore.
Please.. just please give us PS2 emulation already :cry:PoisoN_Facecam0
And give up an opportunity to double/triple-dip in your wallet, if not more? This is $ony here we're talking about. ;) That being said, re-releases like this are only really worth it (to me) if it's for a game that I liked and either: - Couldn't get an original copy at the time it was new (i.e. rented it a lot) - Has ruined their original copy, and thus wanting a 'fix' :P I think the big reason that $ony won't release PS2 games on the PSN is because it would require some kind of emulator to load and run the game, and thus in its current state, only PS3's that had some form of BC would be able to play PSN-downloaded PS2 games at all. The reason PS1 games work fine is because ps1 emulation has always ran off software (a.k.a. t3h c3ll).
I'd really like to see more PS2 classics receive an HD retouch a la GoW collection. ForsakenWicked
I can sort of see why some people would want it, but if the original is readily available (like GoW still is for PS2) why not get it on that? Oh, wait... because $ony neutered the current ps3's. I guess for me, one of my biggest downers for these HD re-releases is the fact that it's basically just that... a polished rerelease of the exact same game. It'd be more compelling if they added some more extra's or something, like being able to switch between "remastered" and original soundtracks (which was done with the PS1 JP releases of MM 1-8, and were seen in MMAC on PS2/Xbox/GC), additional modes (like theoretically being able to play through the whole campaign in 1st person for MGS: Twin Snakes), or something to really make it a much more enticing offer than just re-packaging of the same games I can already play in their original form now.

An ICO collection and MGS trilogy is all I would care about. Unless Harmonix wanted to remaster Frequency and Amplitude...

I prefer this over software emulation, PS2 games just look plain awful on my HDTV as do PS1 games.

Nope. It's been rumored, but it hasn't been confirmed. I wouldn't be surprised to see Sony release it in preparation for The Last Guardian, though. It'd be a good way to generate interest for Last Guardian.

Now I know why they removed b/c for the PS3. They are upgrading old PS2 titles to HD to be playable on PS3 to make more money....:(

antoniopuerta16

Incorrect. They moved it because of how expensive PS3 parts were back in the day.

I'd love to see a Legacy of Kain (Soul Reaver 2, Blood Omen 2 and Defiance) collection for the PS3. I know Sony doesn't hold right to that franchise, but considering that the first two games in that series are downloadable from the PSN store it could happen. I already own all the games in that series, but I'd honestly have no problem with buying a Blu-Ray with them.

Well, assuming third-party games can get this treatment, development will undoubtedly be handled by the third-party studio that owns the property. Sony probably wouldn't play any part in the process.

I guess this way we will hopefully get trophy support. If Sony gave us BC then no trophy support and less money for Sony.Hopefully we will see many of the old games back on the PS3. Id like to see a Ratchet and clank collection myself.

I hope not, they should just put them for DL on the PSN store. Thats way better and faster. If they can put DreamCast games on PSN why cant they put PS2?RTUUMM

Too many GB's and you won't have a 'collection' per say, which I guess is one of the main points.

[QUOTE="RogueShodown"]Your fanboy is showing. If people already own the ps2 games that they're buying an HD collection for, why can't they just play them on their ps2s. I'm not happy that Sony took BC out of the newer PS3s, but it's not like I and many other people who wanted that feature didn't already own a PS2. If there's any company of the big 3 that milks their fanbase, it's Microsoft, not Sony.

What fanboyism? What, is it somehow too much to ask to ask for something worth having and keeping around? It's not like it will cost these companies that much to simply reprint the original games if there were BC models still available. It would involve even less work than these "HD remakes" would. Many I know that did go to the PS3, did so at the cost of losing their PS2, or have since passed on a functioning PS2 to someone else (sold or gifted). At the same time, there were many during the initial release that didn't have a PS1 but appreciated being able to play some of those games on their PS2 when it came out. Likewise with the PS3... is that so hard to believe that someone who didn't have the prior console would appreciate the BC? That's not to say these "HD" remakes aren't all bad. But I would prefer they focus on games that were rare to begin with some more, if for nothing else but to give those that never had the chance to buy it in its original form to be able to get it again. Case in point: I can't even look at the box of a copy of Bust A Groove 1 on eBay for anything less than $70. With an HD remake at $25~35 USD, that would basically make it so that finally more people can play that underrated rhythm game, and - since it was a limited pressing to begin with - so more people can actually buy it that never got to in the first place. And even if you remake a popular series/title, I don't find it unreasonable to expect that something else be done more than simply polishing up graphics. Capcom didn't have to re-release the first RE, but when they made the REmake for GameCube, they did add a few fair significant changes, some of which to keep the scare factor high (such as those Crimson Head zombies) and add some backstory to fill in the gaps the original left (prior experiments, additional notes and docs). Since I was never able to find a copy of RE for ps1 that wasn't scratched to hell and back, the REmake for GC was worthy of my money for being willing to do more than just "tighten up the graphics". All I'm asking is that I'd want to see some more features and modes in these re-released games than just having them get the graphical overhaul.

If they were on PSN, it would be so much hard drive space to be taken up. It would take forever for me to download so I'd rather have the disc. But I LOVE the idea of them doing this to PS2 games. :)

Yeah: make sure their own remastered titles are successful. If they're successful enough to show that there's a market for this, then developers could, in theory, be enticed to do the same. It all depends on how well they perform at retail.

Emulating disc based PS2 games via software is very difficult and the update would probably be a few hours long, especially when you considor how many PS2 games there are

There's still a few PS2 games I'm interested in but never got; like Beyond Good & Evil, Twisted Metal, Killzone & Kingdom Hearts, so I could wait for these to hit PSN. But if it's games I already have like GOW, MGS, Ico, FF, GTA etc then I'll save my money.

Of course it would be more convenient if we could just play PS2 discs on our PS3s, but what do I know?

Warriorboy1990
Yeah it seems like Kingdom Hearts is a popular game that people wish was remastered for the PS3. A lot of people want it to happen.
