For those asking...
PS4 is slated for release in 2014. However, if the new Wii saturates the market and effects software sales for Sony, they will push it to 2013.
Sony has already developed the 400GB Bluray and is also working on developing a 1TB Bluray drive and disc which will be ready between 2013 - 2014 (coincidence?)
Sony has Worldwide Studios working on the development on the console. Their goal is to make the PS4 EXTREMELY easy to code for. So expect incredible looking games from the get go (not the slow painful process the PS3 had)
Cross Game Video Chat was intended to be released on the PS3 when it was revealed in E3 2005. Expect that to be a feature in the PS4 ;)
If you don't believe any of the above... Google it. It's all out there and easy to reference.
Sony debunks PS4 development rumours.
They were talking about the NGP not PS4 lol. OK nothing to see here move along and continue playing the PS3 for another 3-4 years before starting a discussion on PS4.
Wow, I have to say I'm really impressed at how many people here understand that "Working on the next console" doesn't mean "Coming out this fall". Usually when news like this comes out everyone panics and thinks it's going to be hitting shelves next month and the current platform is abandoned immediately (I remember when news hit a while back that M$ was working on what turned out to be "Kinect" and the forums were a-buzz with "360 will be finished by the end of 2009!" posts). In the past, most companies have started work on the "next gen" shortly after the "new" consoles are released. If anything, I'm surprised it took this long. Obviously, there are still a lot of people getting the wrong impression, judging by all the "PS3 at the end" topics I'm seeing on page 1... but at least a good number of people "get it" Usually we have new consoles every 5 years. The PS3 was said to be a "10 year console", but I always thought that figure was a bit... let's say... optimistic. It's gonna take a while to develop, and I'd be really shocked if it even hit the stores by next fall. I'm definitely ready for the next generation of consoles (though I'm not sure if my bank account is :P). Just look at the "Samaritan" demo for the new Unreal engine. New platforms will mean new IPs, new technology (obviously) and more great games. I'll be keeping my eye on PS4... though after this whole "stolen information" fiasco I'm not so sure if I'll be buying Sony's next gen console. They're REALLY gonna have to sell me on it.decepticondevil
PS2 launch was quite good. Games like Timeslpitters, Dynasty Warriors 2, Tekken Tag Tournament, and Armored Core 2 were awesome games. Smugglers Run was also good for its time. PS2 had one of the better launches. This generation of consoles had horrible launches. The 360 pretty much had games that were only a few notches above Xbox 1. The only cool games out at launch were Perfect Dark and Project Gotham Racing 3. The PS3 launch wasn't that much better. The only games it had were Call of Duty 3, and Resistance 1. The Wii launch was the best of the 3 systems, but other than Zelda, there really wasn't a whole lot else. Monkey Ball was cool. The PS2 launch was better than the PS1 launch.
