Sorry had to create this thread because the other one (sony's biggest mistake) was depressing me...
So what in ur view has been Sony's biggest achievement with the PS3??

Maybe...the cell processor.raven_squad
It might be, especially once developers really start to take advantage of all it offers.
With the PS3, Sony has created an incredibly powerful and stable system. When I run my 360, I'm always worried it will crash or freak out and die. When I run my PS3, I have no worries. It's so stable and collected, like it knows what it has to do.
I really haven't touched my 360 since getting my PS3. It feels like I would be taking a step back, as if the 360 is caught in Dreamcast-limbo, it's not really current gen nor is it last gen. All of the little details of the PS3 tell me what is current. I also like the reliability of the Blu-ray format. I work with Blu-ray discs a lot at work and they have countless advantages over DVDs.
I love the connectivity of it. You just need simple USB cables to charge your controllers, not some special cable. It's also nice that it recognizes pretty much every USB accessory, from flash drives to keyboards, to mice and drawing tablets. It's just easy to work with and a lot of fun.
I don't feel Sony had a single "biggest" achievement, I personally feel they had a compilation of good ideas that worked out in their favor. Both Blu-ray and HDMI were mocked before the system's release, and now they are becoming (or already have become) the standard in HD, which is awesome for them even though it could have bit them in the arse.
The free online is cool, but the PSN is still something that needs to grow a bit before it becomes a great achievement. I guess I would have to agree the Cell is thus far a really big achievement, more so once developers learn to use it properly.
It's definitely NOT the cell CPU because it's a real pain for the developers, which has a end result of games being delayed and having a very long development cycle. So the biggest achievements I can think of is pretty much the rest of the technology put inside the PS3 such as blu-ray, Wi-fi, and HDMI. Those right there are the best things going for the PS3 so far...which is untouched by ANY comptetitor.Sorry had to create this thread because the other one (sony's biggest mistake) was depressing me...

The Cell Processor is DEFINATELY an achievement. It ridiculous to say its not. Devs will learn to utilize it more efficiently, and the problems will cease. raven_squad
I agree, 3rd Party Devs just need to actually put the time in, instead of rushing out a game just for profit.

yeh but lets not forget also tht time is money aswell
Free online that works, seemless voice chat integration, best graphics on any console, media that holds 50 gigs worth of info, titles that don't suck.. an online store that provides free demos movies and extras.. plus stuff you can buy that is actually great.. motion sensing controllers..
Sony kicked the walls off with this thing.
Has to be Blu-Ray
A disc that can hold 54gb of data is an awesome achievement.
Compared to the 9GB of normal DvDs it makes Xbox 360 MGS look like a pipe dream. MGS4 was dual layered on a Blu Ray disc. 360 version to be on 5 discs? Doesn't make sense.
Close second would be making the thing as silent as a mouse. I can leave it on overnight and not hear it at all.
