Pricing in general is Sony's problem. The repair price and PS3 price.

samleon05
This I can agree with. That and the fact that Sony's (un)fees for service are usually categorized as *DIAGNOSTIC* fees. Meaning that by the letter of contract, you're only paying them to find out what's wrong with your system when you do ship it in. It's at their discretion to either repair, replace or do nothing to it at all. My brother had to find this out the hard way with the ps2. :(

I agree with the TC. with products that cost what these do i think the manufacturer "sony" should have confidence enough in there product to give a 3 year warrenty at the least. or at the very least have a sliding scale for repair cost. what i mean by that is, say the ps3 has a 1 year warrenty. something goes bad with in the secound year of ownership charge 50 bucks for reapair ect ect.

A sliding scale? I laugh when I see this. Because it cost sony the same every time they fix it. It's not like opps...This is a 3 year old model...It will got extra because it is older.

So I take it nobody has ever had to have their PC, washer, dryer, refrigerator, car, etc. repaired outside of warranty because every manufacturer in each of those industries covers their product for eternity. I wonder why the Realtor offered me a home appliance warranty when I bought my house. Weird.

Reread my post and see if you can detect the sarcasm on the second run through.

That's the most wise thing you said in your post. Maybe you should follow that wisdom too. Clearly your sarcasm detector is broken. ;)

why should the company fix something after there manufacture warranty runs out? crap happens things break. its like a car after ur warranty period is up u pay for all the fixes out of ur own pocket.. Thats why u can buy extended warranty. I did it and if my system breaks i will just walk into the store were i bought it and they will hand me a new one 50 bucks for 2 years of extra warranty is cheaper then 200 bucks to fix.

Sony Warrenties = Big pile of suckage

Denji
The only reason why is because their products only have "low failure rate".

I feel for the OP. Things these days don't last forever like they used to. Now they give us these crappy warrenty things in case something happens and we end up having to PAY for an extended warrenty if we want one. 2% falure rate is only cool when you are the other 98% who don't have issues but they should make it 100% with the amount of money it costs me to pay for a system. I mean, sure the average falure rate for products is 4% and Sony's half that, but if it happens to me, thats 100%! Sony is a charitable company who should do everything for free since we have to spend money on their products for THEM. Its not like they have to pay their people to fix things or parts and stuff. Having to spend that $100 bucks is just insane. I'm sure I take care of my product like they say I should because its not my fault a company worth 40+ billion dollars has no idea what they are doing. Gah Sony nubs. I hate them. I hate their stupid product and how much it costs and I hate I having to wait so long to buy more of the stuff I complain about. Maybe me and the 2% will just quit buying their things and bankrupt the whole company (since we have such a huge impact). Better yet, i'll just complain.
