Well it was Crash Bandicoot, but all of the Crash games that are current are very sub par. I think Ratchet and Clank are Sony's mascots:|Shroomy343
I'd say that although R&C in the lead for that title, one more God of War title (possibly GoW3?) would put Kratos in the running too (if he isn't already).
Naughty Dog gave up the rights to Crash when they moved to the PS2 and started the Jak and Daxter series. I see Ratchet & Clank being Sony's biggest mascots right now, with Kratos up there as well.
It's hard to say who's the mascot, though, because Sony has never had ONE game that was a end-all system seller. If you liked racers you bought Gran Turismo, if you liked RPGs you got Final Fantasy, fighting fans got Tekken, action gamers got Twisted Metal and later God of War, Crash Bandicoot, Ratchet & Clank, and Jak & Daxter covered the platforming and Shadow of the Colossus was for the adventurers.
You really can't classify any of those with the likes of Halo or Mario, but the vast PlayStation library is what made past systems successful. Sony doesn't really need a mascot, but my vote goes to Clank.

A girl with red spiky hair, wearing a electronic eye patch, wielding a oversized broad sword, and riding on a goat with no head. she also have a device in her left hand that can make robots dance or turn them into .... birds.

Just come across my mind, what Phill Harrison?
His glossy bold head looks nice with the glossy mighty black machine
This is why sony is great you do not buy the system for one type of game. Nintendo(mario), Microsoft(masterchief), Sega(sonic). The reason Sony does not have a mascot is because they have different styles for all gamers. If you like stealth you say Snake, if you like FPS you might say Killzone, if you like beat-em ups you could say a couple Dante, Kratos, or Samonoski, if you like RPG's you can say someone from FF. My point is the mascot for Sony does not exsist.

Correct. Though mgs 1 and 2 went multiplatform, mgs3 and mgs4 are still exclusives!
SNAKE loves sony, his holding the ps3 controller in the gameplay trailer.
I'm surprised only one other person has mentioned the Sony mascot, Toro the cat. He's not a Playstation mascot, though.

I would have to say Solid Snake is the unofficial PlayStation mascot.
As for Sony mascot...I'd agree Ratchet and Clank are the mascot for kids and Kratos is the more mature mascot. But neither of them, no matter how famous they ever become, will ever be as big as Solid Snake.
Hard to say, different genres have different memorable characters on Playstation.
I like it that way, diverse and fun :)
Although it's not a character, I'd say the NissanSkyline R34 simply because GT is Playstation's definitive title. You think Playstation, you think GT. You think GT, you think Skyline. AliasUK
Actually, the creator is more of an Evo fan and owns like 10 of them. Don't forget that Mitsu brought the Evo to the US strictly based on the response from gamers who drove Evo's in game.
