Well i don't see why GS would want to give it a 7.5. The game is awesome deserves atleast 8-8.5 if thats your thing. But i just wanted everyone here to know if you're not getting it because GS gave it a 'mediocre-ish' rating, well you're missing out. I'm not gonna post a revieew or write a blog about it or anything just wanted folks here to know.

Yeah I enjoy it a lot so far too... just a lesson in how reviews aren't the gospel truth. (Incdentally, the gospel truth isn't exactly the gospel truth these days either.)

I agree, gamespot was VERY harsh on that game.

8.5 seems a lot more right to me than 7.5...

funny how 'reviewers' hype the game during development like 'its shaping out to be awesome' etc. and do an about turn when the game is out for reviews.

You know, that does raise an eyebrow:shock:

It is strange how someone at GS or whatever gets all this 'hands on' time with a game before launch, yet does not notice all these "problems" at the time. Then when the game comes out, they somehow find all these problems that ruin the game?

Reviewers aren't the ones writing news articles/previewing games on GS. Those people you are reffering to that "hype" up the games while they are in development are GS's writers dedicated to news/previews. One individual from the review team reviews a game, not one of the people who works on news stories and previews. So the reviewers do not hype it up, and if Tom (the GS'er who reviewed Infamous 2) ever does hype something up via the Hotspot, he is normally cautiously optimistic.

Also, 7.5 is not a mediocre score :|. A 5, a score 2.5 points lower, is a mediocre game on their scale. A score of 7.5 means that the game was good, but had flaws that held it back from being great or superb.

Infamous 2 deserved a 7.5-8.0, wasn't anywhere near a 9.0, the score most people wanted it to get. An 8.5 is a bit of a reach but I can see how someone could see it as that.

Those "hands on" sessions last for an hour, if that. Reviewers play these games for much longer, and go through much more than what someone PREVIEWING the game would go through. Also, those people who preview games are NOT the ones reviewing them.

That's why I pay little attention to reviews, I read them SOMETIMES but in the end I make the final call.

reviews are just indicators....of personal taste. So they are useless as long as the reviewer is not a professionist (hence he can put away his personal taste in favor of an inpartial review). I am not saying that Gamespot reviewer was not professional, I'm just saying Gamespot is not the law. If you want a more accurate score for games go to metacritic. That's an average of all the reviews a game gets worldwide. IGN, which i like a lot, gave the game a really high score, 9 if i'm not mistaken.

peace.

The way i see it is like this, you may think it is an 8.5/10 whereas someone else may think it is a 6.5/10, so a 7.5 could be quite accurate. Im sure they give the games to more than one reviewer then get an average of the results.
