I believe I was still farming on the red eyed knight in 1-1 at that point. :P raven_squadI'm a soldier and I can't beat him lol
I just went through 1-1 a bunch of times and killed all the enemies.. worked well enough. I dont think there are any really good farming spots for low levels until you can kill the red eyes knight
I like farming in 3-1 , hunt the octopus headed creatures, but they can be tricky. I use ranged weapons and avarice ring. Gives me about 2.5k per kill,,
or equip thief ring and sneak from the back,,back stab will take about 50% of their health then finish them off.
I really can't think of any good spots for you to farm, honestly. I say just go through 1-1 accumulating souls and be done with it. Since you said you can't beat Red Eyes in 1-1, which I think is your best option :P to kill for farming purposes, I would just farm in 1-1.
I'd assume he hasn't beaten 4-1 yet and as such it is a decent spot to farm souls. Grab a blunt weapon, upgrade it as much as you can, equip a shield with 100% physical damage block and kill as best you can and if you die just be extra careful the nest time so that you can grab your souls. Once you learn their pattern the skeletons are pretty easy and give about 250 souls each. There's also a good magic sword behind a dual katana holding skeleton, above and to the left of the big stairs.
I would say your best bet would be to go through 1-1 and 1-2 to level your guy up a bit. Then get a blunt weapon (the skeletons are weak to them)and go to 4-1 which is called the shrine of storms(?) if I recall. Get through that level and once you get to 4-2 you need a good bow. Get a little bit further into the level (not to far) until you get to a place were there is two rock paths seperated by a drop that would most likely kill you.
There is a "grim reaper" down below you and you can shoot at him with a bow. The creatures he summons will slowly walk towards you but they are easy to deal with. Once the reaper is dead, you get the souls for all the enemies in the area. Run straight back down the tunnel you came and off the cliff. Now just collect your souls and repeat until you get how ever many souls you want.
Actually, I always jump down at that point, the fall doesn't kill you and then the ghosts can't reach you (well they can, but not easily). I doubt he'd have a good enough bow at this point to drop down though, the grim reaper might reach him before his arrows kill it. It's a great place to farm souls, but at low levels he'd have a hard time beating 4-1, so he might as well just farm in 4-1 for a while.Get through that level and once you get to 4-2 you need a good bow. Get a little bit further into the level (not to far) until you get to a place were there is two rock paths seperated by a drop that would most likely kill you.

[QUOTE="SamuRai_JeDi"]4-1 is the best place to farm.Sean2mooreTHIS!!
Seconded. At SL 14, Shrine of Storms 4-1 is the best spot to farm if you haven't gained access to 4-2 reaper yet.
The two best spots in the game to farm are 4-2 reaper and 4-4 flying mantas with Stormruler.
once i beat the tower knight, things really started to click for me... i beat 1-1 then 2-1 then 1-2. The two blue knights still provide me with nice souls and some good half moon drops. I don't bother with the red knight in 1-1, we don't get along...
It sounds like you need to adjust your equipment before grinding, I beat the game in 60 hours at level 60 without grinding and I'm a pretty bad player.
If you have problems dodging, make sure that you only use half of you're available equipment weight, that will give you very fast rolls and you can dodge almost every attack with ease. Also try finding and using the purple dragon shield if you beat the Red Dragon. (You'll need a ton of arrows and a compound (composite?) bow to beat him. If you have trouble figuring out how, check a guide.)

I grind-ed allot in my first play through and my time was 40 hours.
So it seems grinding does help allot.
