Standard Definition Impressions

Okay,

I'm getting my PS3 on Friday and i can't wait! Problem is, i dont have an HD TV. So i'd like to ask to those of you who still run the PS3 off a Standard Def TV what it is like.

Is the XMB text bigger? Are in-game HUD's more dominating? Is the performance slower or smoother? Is the image alinged correctly?

Just little tidbits i'd like to know about and anything else that strikes you as worthy of mentioning.

Yes thats right, component are the upgrade to the in box composite cables, and it makes a pretty impressive difference.Prince_Denspion

for about 2 months i had ny ps3 on a SDTV it as good but had to     upgrade with hdtv it looks a resonble amont better

FYI: My tv is a 26inch Widescreen CRT with 2 scarts (dunno if RGB), a composite and an S-Video.
I'll just hook it up via Composite for now!

IMO, the PS3 is worthless without an HDTV.

I would buy an HDTV before a PS3.

No, without getting too technical, composite carries the video signal over 1 cable/wire; S-Video 2 (in 1 cable) ; component 3 (in 3 seperate cables)

There's more to it than that, but that's the simplified version.

For example: Component is the only one (of those 3) with enough bandwidth/overhead to be used as an HD cable.

Yeah I use component cables too for my SDTV. Its the best possible connection for an SDTV.

But yeah, the PS3 will look ok, the text will suck and some games will play in widescreen but thats the price you pay.

IMO, the PS3 is worthless without an HDTV.
