Start operation error message?

***UPDATE*** It now see the disc and when I go to load it I get this " An error has occurred during the start operation. (80010514)

So I'm playing CoD WaW when the match ended and it goes to the loading screen and just sits there forever so I hold the PS button and try to quit the game and it just sits there forever also so I just turn it off using the switch. When I turn it back on it says theres a new Software update, so I proceed to download it. Upon finishing the download it installs it then reboots itself. When the system rebooted, I ofcourse proceed to load WaW back up but long behold the icon for the game isn't there. I ejected the disc and put it back in and still nothing, so I then tried to load Modern Warfare and yet again nothing. I then tried a DVD and after a little bit it loaded. I THEN tried WaW again and it found the disc, so I continued to go on and play but recieved an error message saying something about the Startup operation failed and then the error code. Now, I would give the exact code and description of the error message granted the PS3 system identify the disc but no, it won't even see the disc now.

So, has anyone had this problem yet, or know a solution to this problem? I did go on to Playstations website to find out information about this update but they are still advertising the 2.70 update

lol really it got locked that is awesome..

there is a help thread that you could post your problem in there..

it had nothing to do with the update.. it's like turning a system off while you're saving a game, there is a great chance the data becomes corrupt..

didn't you say dvd movies work?

the data for games either save data utility or game data utility could have become corrupt..

try deleting then installing again.. if that doesn't work reformat..

or you can do the most intelligent move and call sony..

Bad news bud, your disc drive bit it. Call Sony and have them fix it, won't cost you a cent if you're still under warranty, be ready to pony up $150 if you aren't.

Good question. Does it say used PS3 on the receipt, or does it just say PS3? You could always call the store and see what they say as it should be covered under the store 's warranty policy. I'd also call Sony, free call, and tell them the situation, you have a purchase receipt so they might cut you a break as well.

Some people have searched ebay for the disc drive, and used you tube for instructions on replacing the disc drive yourself. If you feel confident in your own skills it will save you some money. It's what I plan to do if mine breaks outside of the warranty again.
